Summary About the Position: Responsible for the development of contract drawings and standard detailing for structures, utilities, mechanical, and electrical features, or equipment. Responsibilities Prepares as-built and field verification of data for structures, utilities, mechanical, and electrical features, or equipment. Receives sketches or information from engineers and/or engineering technicians to be developed into final engineering drawings or illustration packages. Exercises judgment in material and metal selections, design efficiency, installation procedures, sizes, and tolerances. Performs automated drafting utilizing personal computers, digitizers, digitizing tablets, electrostatic and pen plotters, scanners, and a variety of automated drafting software. Responsible for routine system maintenance of hardware associated with the computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) systems. Responsible for verifying that all electronic drawings are in compliance with Architectural, Engineering and Construction (A/E/C) Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) standards. Works with staff and project managers to coordinate appropriate small projects with limited scope and complexity. Maintains and manages drawing library, both digital and print, according to site standard operating procedures. Associated tasks include revision control and tracking; storage and organization; and archival and retrieval of project drawings. Assists engineering with developing and implementing procedures for drawing management. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Minimum qualifications for the GS-09: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience utilizing an electronic document management system to catalog, file, and organize engineering documents; AND using Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) systems to create and update drawings of equipment and facilities in an industrial or campus setting. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to Detail Customer Service Flexibility Integrity/Honesty Interpersonal Skills Learning Reading Comprehension Reasoning Self-Management Stress Tolerance Teamwork Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08). Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. This position may requiresa 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. In making this determination, the agency may consider your performance and conduct; agency needs and interests; whether your continued employment supports organizational or Government goals; and whether it promotes the efficiency of the Federal service. Continued employment requires written certification that it advances the public interest. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
