We are looking for a senior account executive to serve as the Health and Benefits GovCon leader for our Washington, D.C. market - owning key Health & Benefits GovCon client relationships, developing benefits strategy, and leading a team to manage clients' benefits programs.
This is a hybrid role with flexibility to work both virtually and from our Washington, D.C. office.

What the day will look like
The Health Solutions Senior Vice President, Account Executive - Government Contracting Industry will be a key contributor and senior leader for mid and large market GovCon clients. The role involves the management and growth of ongoing U.S. health and benefits client work. With specific focus on government contractors subject to FAR, SCA and related requirements.
You will be accountable for benefits consulting and vendor management for assigned clients, including placing insurance, leading overall client strategy, and coordinating the assigned client team. This position will have frequent interactions with the client's Human Resources, Finance and Total Rewards leadership (e.g., CHRO, VP of Total Rewards, Benefits Director) for the delivery of benefits consulting services and broader strategic discussions.
Leadership, strategy and growth
Own and drive, in partnership with market and region leadership, the strategic vision and direction for Aon's Health Solutions GovCon portfolio in the Washington, D.C. market.
Serve as Aon's primary Health Solutions GovCon subject matter leader in the region, including representing the firm in key industry forums, executive client meetings and internal trainings.
Partner and collaborate with other business partners (Health Solutions, Human Capital, Risk and other solution lines) for growth, strategic direction, and differentiated client service.
Grow revenue and increase market share within the local market through individual sales and expansion of existing GovCon relationships.
Lead and partner with local leadership team to implement and execute local, regional and national initiatives.
People leadership and talent
Lead colleague engagement for the Health Solutions GovCon team and proactively build and maintain a diverse talent pipeline.
Network with external senior talent across the industry to strengthen and grow the practice.
Focus on leadership development by serving as a mentor and coach to direct reports and other high -potential talent.
Form effective teams, share client background and goals, measure results, share ideas, identify process improvements, and provide timely and regular coaching and feedback to team members.
Client leadership and delivery
Manage a substantial book of business and expand overall client relationships across health and benefits and adjacent Aon solution lines.
Develop employee benefits strategies, tailored to the GovCon environment; lead sophisticated benefits consulting projects; manage vendors; develop client reports; and lead external client meetings and internal resource coordination.
Maintain and grow long-term client relationships through excellent service, proactive issue resolution and thought leadership.
Display an in-depth understanding of the Health and Benefits marketplace and GovCon-specific requirements, as well as Aon's Health and Benefits practice and tools.
Work with other Health Solutions, Human Capital and Risk leaders to better understand our GovCon clients' current and future challenges and use that information to explore potential solutions.
Lead all aspects of vendor negotiations and provide coaching to other team members on negotiation strategy and execution.
Act as a strategic resource for consultants and other team members, especially on GovCon, FAR/SCA and compliance-related issues.
Participate as needed on internal projects and initiatives that advance the knowledge and skills of Aon's Health and Benefits practice.
GovCon / technical expertise
Possess and apply deep experience in benefit plan design, rate analysis, strategy, RFP development and response review, insurance carrier negotiations, stewardship report preparation, benchmark analysis, client financial analysis and reporting, and carrier contract reviews.
Bring specific experience working with government contractors, including understanding and advising on FAR regulations, SCA compliance, DCAA audits and related requirements.
Exhibit leadership and sound business judgment in anticipating GovCon client/project needs and developing alternative solutions.
Proactively bring the best of Aon to GovCon clients by coordinating across Health Solutions, Human Capital, Risk Capital and other solution lines to identify and execute cross-solution opportunities.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
Ten -plus years of Health and Benefits experience.
Six-plus years of consulting experience.
Client -facing experience at a consulting company, insurance company, brokerage or in the Health and Benefits discipline.
Five -plus years of experience serving government contracting (GovCon) clients.
Strong understanding of FAR regulations, SCA compliance, DCAA audits and related GovCon requirements.
Demonstrated success leading complex client relationships at a senior level, including executive-level communication and influence.
Complex project management experience, with the ability to lead large, multi-stakeholder initiatives.
Broad business knowledge/perspective with the ability to connect benefits strategy to overall business and contract performance.
Team building skills and proven experience leading, developing, and coaching teams.
Business development experience, including new logo wins and expansion of existing relationships.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal collaboration skills.
Education: and professional requirements
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent years of industry experience.
Life/Accident/Health insurance license (or ability to obtain license after hire).
Pay Transparency
The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $ $260,000 - $320,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.
This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
