The Executive Pathways Program is a paid summer internship (June - August) for college students to explore a rewarding career in public service.

This position is eligible for telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) for applicants who reside in Minnesota or in a bordering state, with supervisory approval and satisfactory performance. If you live in a state bordering Minnesota, you must live within 50 miles or less from the primary work location to be eligible for telework.

The Impact Division works closely with culture and equity partners across the agency and enterprise to support initiatives that strengthen engagement, learning, and organizational effectiveness.
The Impact and Innovation Intern will be an important member of the team and will contribute to priority projects that elevate storytelling, narrative development, internal engagement, and division supports. This internship offers hands-on experience across a range of initiatives and is intentionally designed to flex based on division priorities and the intern's strengths.
The intern may support the division's events and engagement calendar, contribute to SharePoint or digital workspace enhancements, and assist with content or resource development that strengthens internal awareness and participation.
Some responsibilities include but not limited to:
Support development of storytelling and narrative approaches that highlight Impact Division priorities and outcomes
Assist with internal innovation and impact efforts, including events, workshops, or resource development
Contribute to SharePoint Online enhancements or digital workspace improvements based on team needs
Help maintain and organize the Impact Division events and engagement calendar
Partner with staff on special projects aligned with equity, culture, and innovation goals
Support knowledge management, documentation, and process improvements
Provide general project coordination and team support as needed
Minimum Qualifications
To be eligible for an internship, you must meet the following requirements:
You must be a student at an accredited educational institution; or recently graduated December 2025 or May 2026
AND
Excellent human relation and communication skills sufficient to represent the position and Division in a professional, efficient, and clear manner
Ability to work independently and in a team setting
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and contribute to a culture of inclusion
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred majors include: Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, Public Relations, Public Administration, Organizational Development, or related field.
Experience working within diverse communities
Passion for antiracism
Experience in education or facilitation of groups
Ability to write and communicate in a professional manner
Positive attitude, with the ability to think creatively and work collaboratively
Interest in storytelling, narrative development, or organizational engagement work
Additional Requirements
Must be in academic years of sophomore, junior, or senior (Graduate students allowed)
Must provide unofficial transcript to show proof of school enrollment
Must be willing to reside in Minnesota for the duration of internship
Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) criminal background check will be conducted on all finalists for this position. Finalists must pass the DHS background check.
