POSITION OVERVIEW:
This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role for a Production Supervisor who takes ownership of their area and their team. You will lead the day-to-day operations within our Composites Department, overseeing a complex, multi-step manufacturing process including layup, curing, molding, and assembly in a regulated aerospace environment. You'll be responsible for driving performance in real time - balancing throughput, quality, and labor efficiency - while building a strong, accountable team through coaching, training, and leadership. This role requires someone who is confident making decisions on the floor, holding standards, and stepping in to solve problems as they arise. Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and ensure the proper execution of daily operations within the Composites Department, including bondroom layups, autoclave processing, molding, press operations, radome de-flashing, honeycomb repair, riveting, and product assembly..
Coordinate and assign work orders to all employees in the department to optimize workforce efficiency and ensure production targets, quality standards, and delivery schedules are met.
Provide hands-on leadership and support to production personnel, ensuring proper training, adherence to work instructions, safety procedures, and quality requirements.
Review blueprints, travelers, work instructions, and technical documentation to confirm part requirements, revision levels, and process flow.
Assist manufacturing engineers in troubleshooting process issues and performing experimentation for process improvements.
Oversee equipment readiness and work area organization, working closely with Facilities, Maintenance, and Engineering to address equipment, tooling, and environmental needs (clean room controls, autoclaves, presses, etc.).
Submit purchase requisitions for materials, tooling, consumables, and equipment to support uninterrupted production.
Collaborate with Production Control, Engineering, Quality, and other Production Supervisors to adjust schedules, resolve bottlenecks, and maintain on-time delivery.
Update, maintain, and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions for the composites area.
Lead continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives (5S, process flow improvements, waste reduction) within the composites operation.
Monitor key performance indicators including quality, efficiency, scrap/rework, and schedule adherence, and communicate status to management.
Support and execute employee performance evaluations, hiring, interviewing coaching, training, and corrective actions in coordination with HR.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required. Higer education is preferred but not required.
5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within aerospace or regulated production environments.
5+ years of experience in a supervisory or lead role overseeing production personnel.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, travelers, and technical specifications.
Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and production flow; experience in composites manufacturing is a strong plus but not required.
Experience working with ERP systems, Infor preferred but not required
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams, enforce standards, and drive accountability.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a production shop floor environment, including clean room settings.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have, Not Required):
Prior aerospace manufacturing experience
Composites experience
