Summary This position is located at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston, South Carolina within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Southeast Network (VISN 7), Engineering Service . .The position is organizationally aligned under the office of the Chief, Maintenance, Operations, Repair and Readiness (MORR) Office. Responsibilities Serves as an Equipment & Facility Services Assistant (EFSA) in the Engineering section of the Ralph H Johnson VA Medical Center. Is assigned primary responsibility for the ongoing maintenance, control and administration of a comprehensive computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). As an EFSA, the individual coordinates work priorities and takes policy direction from the Section Supervisors. Major duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Duties of the incumbent include maintaining time sheets and accurately inputting time and attendance data into the electronic system. Incumbent must have in depth knowledge of multiple shifts and tours of duty and how they are staffed and maintained in an essential personnel environment. Incumbent inputs and makes corrections to schedules of improperly or incorrectly posted time and has the knowledge to understand and configure days off and holidays for rotating shift employees. Incumbent must be able to verify attendance, hours worked-and-pay adjustments while-tracking overtime hours. Works hand-in-hand with supervisor to assurance accuracy of time and proper channels of requesting time are performed. Duties also include ensuring time sheets are submitted and received by employees on time to issue accurate payroll adjustments. The incumbent must have knowledge in accounting and payroll data software programs and is required to have knowledge in administrative skills such as operating computers, calculators, word processing and proficiency with Excel spreadsheets. It is imperative for the incumbent to have knowledge of personnel compensation and benefits relating to hours worked. Incumbent must have knowledge of mathematical reasoning and analytical skills that are needed to avoid any pay errors. Must exhibit the ability to understand and be proactive when the need for staffing during an emergency situation arises. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm. Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 04/16/2026. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. Compiles, prepares and generates various reports [man hour reports, maintenance backlog reports, equipment downtime reports as needed.
