Summary The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is actively recruiting for a Pharmacy Technician. This position functions primarily in pharmacies located in Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs}, managed by the Outpatient Section of Pharmacy Service. Responsibilities VA Careers - Pharmacy: https://youtube.com/embed/Fn_ickNBEws Reads and interprets prescriptions, obtains proper medication or material in the proper strength and dosage form; determines proper amount and counts, pours, or measures the medications; affixes proper label; and records required data on Pharmacy's copy of prescription/order. Communicates with veterans and PACT Team to answer questions and resolve issues using MyHealthe Vet Secure Messaging as assigned. Participates in patient education programs, community outreach, and other programs as directed by pharmacy supervisor and Community Outpatient Services management Conducts monthly inspections of pharmacy stock for outdated and damaged medications. Maintains cleanliness of pharmacy areas, as assigned. Provides customer service via telephone coverage for multiple CBOCs. Resolves delivery and ordering questions for patients. Refers clinical questions to a pharmacist. Communicates medication renewal requests needing provider action to the appropriate provider via CPRS progress note entry. Follows-up on requests to assure appropriate action has been taken. Provides Call Center and Medical Center medication request follow-up as assigned. Reviews VISTA reports and takes appropriate action to forward patient medication requests, or reviews and acts on Call Center requests. Maintains a training/education on pharmacy manual for the focus area assigned. Provides training to new or existing staff so that these competencies are maintained. Education or Experience: None required For all grade levels and positions that accept both education and experience to qualify, equivalent combinations of qualifying education and experience that total at least 100% are qualifying. The combined percentage is determined by adding total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level to the education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. Physical Requirements: The work requires regular and recurring physical exertion, involving standing for prolonged periods of time, lifting/carrying of pharmaceutical supplies weighing up to 50lbs, and bending/stooping. Pharmacy technicians employed in VHA on the effective date of this qualification standard are considered to have met all qualification requirements for the title, series and grade held, including positive education and licensure/certification/registration that are part of the basic requirements of the occupation.
