About you and this role:
Dow?has an exciting opportunity for anIndustrial Hygiene/CIH Specialistlocated in Hahnville, LA. As part of a highly functional and inclusive team, this person provides on-site expertise and consultation to ensure efficient and cost-effective Industrial Hygiene programs in the facilities located at Dow's St Charles Operations (SCO). SCO consists of 10 highly integrated production facilities, handling OSHA regulated chemical agents and managing Priority 1 IH risks. This person works directly with the site-leveraged IH roles, facility and functional health-safety delivery and in-plant operations roles for the timely response and continuous interaction needed to maintain strong IH performance within a highly integrated, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
This role will bring advanced knowledge, analytical capability, and program leadership necessary to:
Conduct comprehensive qualitative and quantitative exposure assessments for complex chemical and physical agents
Provide deeper evaluation and documentation for high-hazard work such as Confined Space Entry.
Develop, strengthen and execute monitoring strategies for regulated agents and high-risk operations.
Guide program enhancements, trend analysis, and long-term IH strategy.
Interpret and implement global IH programs, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Advise on IH issues for manufacturing technologies and business areas.
Participate in audits and gap closure planning.
Mentor the Health-Safety technicians in all areas of Industrial Hygiene. Nurture their knowledge and awareness of, and respect for, the Industrial Hygiene impacts of daily work.
Support the site Emergency Operations Center, including on-call availability and development of the EOC Safety Officer role.
Serve as Radiation Safety Officer for St Charles Operations.
Qualifications:
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree or higher in science, engineering, or a related field.
A minimum of 6 years of experience in a Chemical Manufacturing environment. Operations experience preferred.
CIH certification or completion of the education requirements for CIH certification with intention to become certified after gaining the necessary experience and passing the CIH exam /Complete 180 academic contact hours (or 240 continuing education hours) in industrial hygiene.CIH Public Home - Board for Global EHS Credentialing (https://gobgc.org/cih/)

Current, valid US driver's license.
This position is a critical-to-operations role which requires an on-site presence during normal working hours, occasional on-site presence outside of normal work schedule, and on-call support for the site Emergency Operations Center.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any @type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process. ?

Wear safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.
Wear and use respirators.
Perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
Work in tight or closed-in spaces.
Climb stairs/ladders and work high off the ground. Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE), including harnesses with a total maximum weight capacity of 300lbs.
Stand or walk for extended periods of time.
