Position Summary...
Position Overview
This role provides operational leadership within Walmart's Grocery Distribution Center (GDC) network, supporting high volume, fast moving perishable and ambient food operations. The position ensures consistent execution of safety, quality, and productivity standards while maintaining food safety compliance, delivering exceptional service to stores, and enabling efficient end to end grocery supply chain flow.
Key Responsibilities
Communication & Collaboration
Communicate effectively with associates, suppliers, customers, and leadership through clear verbal and written channels.
Ensure cross functional alignment across Inbound, Outbound, Quality, Food Safety, Transportation, and Maintenance teams.
Operational Strategy & Execution
Lead, develop, and oversee the facility's business plan to meet GDC-specific operational goals, including:
o Case and pallet throughput
o Fresh/ambient product quality
o Temperature compliance
o Food-safety and sanitation standards
o Safety and injury reduction
Drive strategic improvements for complex grocery operations (perishable flow, shrink reduction, temperature controlled handling, slotting, and replenishment).
Staffing & Workforce Planning
Review and approve forecasted staffing plans to ensure adequate labor levels for volume demands, seasonal fluctuations, and performance expectations.
Support staffing model accuracy for multi temperature zones (fresh, frozen, and ambient).
Financial & Business Management
Manage financial performance for the facility including:
o Monitoring expenses vs. budget
o Optimizing labor and asset utilization
o Controlling shrink within perishable categories
o Reviewing and analyzing operational business reports
Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cost per case and enhance GDC throughput.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
Ensure facility-wide compliance with all Logistics, Walmart, and food-safety requirements, including temperature control, sanitation, HACCP, and product integrity.
Develop and maintain SOPs, procedures, and documentation that support compliance with:
o OSHA
o USDA/food handling regulations
o Walmart quality and safety standards
Investigate associate, customer, and supplier concerns; make fact based decisions or escalate as needed.
Community & Stakeholder Engagement
Serve as a facility representative for local community outreach, charitable activities, and company-sponsored events.
Strengthen partnerships with stores, transportation partners, and network leadership across the grocery supply chain.
Leadership & Talent Development
Lead and empower the facility's leadership team by:
o Communicating goals and expectations clearly
o Monitoring performance and providing coaching & feedback
o Identifying training, upskilling, and development needs
o Supporting recruitment, hiring, promotion, and performance management
Build a strong leadership bench capable of supporting high-volume grocery distribution operations.

What you'll do...

The annual salary range for this position is $180,000.00 - $270,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
