Property Accountant

Description We are looking for a skilled Property Accountant to manage the financial operations of real estate properties in Rockville Centre, New York. This role requires expertise in property accounting, financial reporting, and the use of Yardi software to ensure accurate and efficient accounting practices. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with property management teams.

Responsibilities:

Oversee the complete accounting cycle for assigned properties, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger maintenance.

Prepare monthly financial statements, variance analyses, and property budgets to provide clear insights into property performance.

Collaborate with property management teams to review financial data, address discrepancies, and ensure accurate reporting.

Process tenant billings, manage security deposit accounting, and handle common area maintenance (CAM) reconciliations.

Maintain organized and accurate property records in Yardi, ensuring proper documentation and coding.

Assist with annual audits, tax packages, and external reporting requirements.

Monitor cash flow, support collection efforts, and produce monthly financial reports for ownership groups and management.

Respond to financial inquiries from property managers, tenants, and vendors in a timely manner.

Ensure adherence to internal controls, company policies, and general accounting standards. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in property accounting.

Proficiency in Yardi Voyager or similar Yardi platforms is required.

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel; familiarity with other accounting or property management software is a plus.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Familiarity with accrual accounting and month-end close processes.
