If so, join our seasonal Maintenance team at Fish Wildlife and Parks; working to protect the integrity of what defines Montana, the Montana experience, and our people. A seasonal Groundskeeper position offers you a great entry level introduction into the State of Montana workforce to start your career. We are looking for an observant individual that can work both independently and as a positive-minded team member on collaborative projects. You will be responsible for prioritizing the cleanliness and safety of Fishing Access Sites and State parks. This position is dynamic, and responsibilities will change throughout the season allowing you to acquire knowledge in the safe operation of both hand and power tools, landscaping equipment, noxious weed identification, ATV operation, and basic carpentry. The incumbent will need to possess the ability to use spreadsheets and other programs necessary to complete maintenance logs and personnel reports. This position will typically work a 40 hour week Monday - Friday. However, flexibility exists to adapt work schedules to individual needs on a case-by-case basis. Job Duties: This position plays a vital role in supporting the maintenance and operations of Fish, Wildlife & Parks sites, including all State Parks and Fishing Access Sites in the Great Falls area. The incumbent must be able to work both independently and collaboratively with other regional maintenance staff. Primary responsibilities include: Cleaning and sanitizing comfort stations, vault latrines, picnic tables, and BBQ grills. Cleaning and monitoring site infrastructure such as boat and swimming docks, picnic shelters, sidewalks, interpretive displays, and signage. Conducting daily site inspections and reporting hazards or repair needs. Collecting litter from beaches, riverbanks, trails, and site rights-of-way, and emptying trash cans. Mowing, tree pruning, and string trimming. Performing preventative maintenance on equipment including mowers, string trimmers, ATVs/UTVs, saws, trailers, and backpack blowers. Building, maintaining, and repairing fences, gates, and trail systems. Conducting noxious weed control, including trimming, hand pulling, and applying herbicides under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Worker 2. Performing minor routine facility maintenance such as painting, installing kiosk signage, striping parking lots, repairing gravel roads, and addressing hazard trees. The employee must maintain accurate, detailed records of assigned duties and submit them into the maintenance record system in a timely manner. Participation in annual and scheduled trainings-including First Aid, CPR, and safety meetings-is mandatory. Awareness of job-related safety hazards and proper use of personal protective equipment is essential. Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience): The knowledge, skills, and abilities of this position are normally attained through a high school diploma or equivalency.
