JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

Licensed by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Nurse. Certification by a national certifying body with prescriptive privileges. BLS and ACLS certification required. Certified Physician Assistant candidates will also be considered.

Experience

Two year of experience as an RN or PA with a least one of those year in the ICU Cardiac & Vascular setting where post-operative hearts are recovered.

Normal hospital environment. Exposure to biological hazards. Frequent exposure to unpleasant odors. Close eye work. Hearing of normal and soft tones. Distinguish smells. Distinguish temperatures by touch and proximity. May be exposed to airborne and infectious materials. Required to stand, walk, sit, push and pull, use fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. Reach with hands and arms. Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.

JOB SUMMARY

The Advanced Cardiac & Vascular APRN or PA-C provides direct patient care services for complex critically ill adult patients in the ICU-CV setting in collaboration with and under the supervision of the indicated surgeon, EP or Cardiologist. The APN or PA performs physical exams, collects and documents data, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations, prescribes appropriate interventions and medications, coordinates the care and discharge of patients, and provides direct patient care services. The role contributes to excellence in patient care. The APRN or PA collaborates with the Intensivist and the Intensivist Program members to ensure coordination of care. This role is able to care for and provide consultation for advanced mechanical support such as ECMO, LVAD, IMPELLA etc.
