Job Summary and Qualifications

Manage and coordinate the site operation of the clinical laboratory.

Ensure clinical excellence and customer satisfaction.

Maintain staff competency and compliance with regulations.

Manage the clinical laboratory budget.

Participate in special projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Facilitate the technical operations of the clinical laboratory.

Monitor Point of Care Testing operations.

Participate in quality control, quality assurance, and CQI activities.

Coordinate lab site schedules and staff assignments.

Maintain CLIA listings, the Laboratory Services Handbook, and chemical inventories.

Interact with physicians, hospital staff, and patients to address service complaints.

Coordinate the implementation of test methodologies and instrumentation.

Facilitate test procedure verification and establish test performance parameters.

Establish formal quality control programs.

Maintain and develop clinical standards in compliance with regulatory standards.

Evaluate the competency of testing and phlebotomy personnel.

Identify training needs and provide staff development programs.

Conduct regular staff meetings.

Evaluate performance of supervised staff and institute salary increases.

Develop and maintain a staff orientation program.

Inspect work areas for safety hazards and implement corrective actions.

Participate in hiring decisions.

Maintain staff records.

Develop and monitor salary, operational, and capital budgets.

Monitor clinical laboratory cost centers.

Coordinate purchasing with material management staff.

Facilitate reference laboratory services.

Participate in annual CPT code review.

Participate in special projects as assigned.

Review current literature and attend meetings and seminars.

Evaluate and modify department policies and procedures.

Preside as chair of the Lab Site Safety Committee.

Perform similar or related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Required- Bachelor's degree

Preferred- 3+ years experience in clinical laboratory leadership
