Summary
The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is seeking an Administrative Assistant I to provide essential administrative and program support to the Department of Psychology and the Data Science Program. This role will serve as a key point of contact for faculty, staff, and students, supporting front office operations in the Psychology Department as well as program coordination, student support, and communications for the Data Science undergraduate program.
This position supports a large, student-focused department and a growing interdisciplinary undergraduate program, requiring strong organization, communication, and the ability to manage a variety of administrative and programmatic tasks.
Example of Duties - Provides front office support for the Department of Psychology, including greeting visitors, responding to phone and email inquiries, and assisting faculty, staff, and students with routine administrative needs.- Coordinates administrative tasks such as room scheduling, shared calendars, mail distribution, supply ordering, and general office logistics.- Assists with planning and supporting events, including seminars, colloquia, faculty searches, and other meetings.- Supports coordination of the Data Science undergraduate program, including course scheduling, enrollment processes, and communication with students and faculty.- Assists with student engagement and outreach activities, including recruitment events, co-curricular programming, and communications.- Collects and organizes program data and assists with website updates, newsletters, and program communications. Level Guidelines- Entry level position acquiring job skills and learning standard operating procedures and policies to complete tasks- Works under relatively close supervision and receives guidance on new work assignments- Works on assignments which are routine in nature requiring limited judgment- Refers difficult or less routine issues to supervisor or higher-level staff for assistance- May provide guidance to students
This position is a 10-month continuous appointment spanning August through May.
