Job Description Summary
Oversee and lead fabrication and development projects within our Rapid Prototyping & Machining Lab (RPM Lab). The engineer will be responsible to coordinate and facilitate the assembly of proto@type and production-grade gas turbine measurement sensors. The role will focus primarily on fiber optic non-contact measurements and temperature/pressure rakes. This role will require significant hands-on involvement and project leadership skills as well as opportunities for 3D printing, machining, and design validation processes.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Provide mechanical design and project support of test programs in the CDT labs, Test stands and Field Engine testing.
Support precision sensor development including optical technology, traditional temperature, pressure and strain, and other technologies unique to gas turbine validation.
Provide support of machining operations (milling, drilling, turning)
Create detailed 3D models of precision hardware, component specifications, and drawings, including utilizing PLM for formal documentation and revision control.
Perform mechanical analysis & engineering calculations of components including strain/stress, thermal, and vibration analysis.
Provide mechanical design and system process review of validation equipment. Review, evaluate, and approve supplier analyses & designs working with Sourcing to ensure cost effective design solutions.
Ensure compliance with applicable local & international codes and standards (such as ASME, ASTM, ATEX, NEC, EU Norms, etc.).
Be responsible for the safety, quality, delivery, and cost of new or modified designs. Complete design reviews and system development in coordination with the Chief Engineering Office (CEO) and Controlled Title Holders (CTH), including utilizing PLM and DRB for final approvals and revision control.
Lead hardware and sensor projects from design through fabrication, testing, and delivery, including purchasing, scheduling, resource planning, training, customer coordination, and supervision of the construction and fabrication of new or upgraded sensor hardware and measurement equipment, including machining processes.

Working knowledge of machining operations (milling, drilling, turning)
Familiarity with 3D printing and rapid prototyping methods
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and solid models
Desired Characteristics
Strong collaboration, communication, and documentation skills are essential for effective teamwork and technical traceability.
Strict adherence to GE Vernova safety practices, including The Life Saving Rules.
Strong interest/knowledge around measurement technology & metrology for gas turbines.
Experience in measurement technology development including mechanical design analysis of the hardware.
Knowledge and understanding of gas turbine shroud hardware design, repair and life constraints including thermal/mechanical implications, as well as turbine clearances.
Knowledge and ability to perform machining processes with machines including mill, lathe, surface grinder, drill press, as well as basic welding and joining techniques.
Exposure to finite element analysis (stress, modal analysis)
Hands-on experience with machining tools (saws, drills, power tools)
