We are seeking an ambitious and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Associate Accountant. This role will report to the Controller and is ideal for someone eager to grow their accounting career within a dynamic, multi-entity, and international environment.

The successful candidate will focus primarily on full-cycle Accounts Payable; while developing exposure and eventually taking on the Accounts Receivable cycle and revenue processes. This role will play a key part in ensuring accurate financial operations across multiple entities, currencies, and systems.

Under Surfline's "Work from Anywhere" policy, this position may be performed on a full-time remote basis from any location within California. What You'll Do:

Manage full-cycle accounts payable for multi-national entities, from data entry through bank reconciliations

Review and process vendor bills, ensuring accurate coding, proper approvals, and use of available tools and systems

Prepare and review weekly payment runs, using reports to ensure vendors are paid within established terms

Support month-end close activities, including accruals, account reviews, and reconciliations

Perform bank reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner

Reconcile vendor statements and follow up on discrepancies or outstanding issues

Oversee travel and expense processes, including corporate credit card management, expense monitoring, and policy compliance

Utilize accounting tools and systems, including Excel, NetSuite, Ramp, and various banking platforms

Assist with tax compliance, including preparation of 1099s

Develop into full-cycle accounts receivable responsibilities, including sales orders, invoicing, cash application, and customer follow-ups

Support inventory accounting activities, including tracking in-transit items, installations, and reconciliations

Contribute to ad hoc projects as needed

What We're Looking For:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred

1-3 years of accounting or relevant internship experience preferred

Strong MS Office skills, particularly Excel

Strong attention to detail, organization, and reliability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

Curiosity and eagerness to learn and grow within the accounting field

A "get it done" attitude

You May Also Have:

Experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Bill.com, Navan, Ramp, Stripe, Paypal)

Experience or knowledge in handling multi-entity and multi-currency transactions is an advantage

Exposure to month end close practices

Passion for ocean-going activities

Compensation and Benefits:

The base salary range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000. In accordance with applicable state laws, the range provided is Surfline's reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location.
