Job Description
This role has multiple levels, open to candidates with 3+ years of experience in a finance/analytical related role. The successful candidate will be hired for the level of the position that aligns with their experience. Please note that the salary range provided corresponds to the lowest level of the position posted.
The Commercial Real Estate Credit Analyst supports Relationship Managers and Portfolio Managers in managing an assigned portfolio of commercial real estate client relationships. This role is responsible for financial analysis, credit monitoring, underwriting support, and portfolio reviews while ensuring compliance with bank credit policies and underwriting standards. The analyst plays a critical role in assessing credit risk, supporting credit approval requests, and maintaining the overall credit quality of a complex and diverse CRE portfolio.
The role sits within the Commercial Real Estate (CRE) group covering institutional clients based in the Western U.S. The team underwrites all major commercial property @types, including apartments, office, industrial, retail, lodging, data centers, self storage, and life science properties, but excluding single family homes.
Key Responsibilities
Support Relationship Managers and Portfolio Managers in managing an assigned portfolio of commercial real estate relationships
Oversee accurate and consistent spreading of borrower and guarantor financial statements in accordance with bank standards and credit policies
Prepare quarterly trend analyses, monitoring reports, and covenant compliance testing
Analyze financial data and prepare clear, comprehensive written credit analyses
Assess portfolio credit quality and assist with industry and sector reviews
Support Relationship Managers in preparing, underwriting, and presenting credit requests for approval
Maintain compliance monitoring and financial reporting databases, including tracking credit agreement requirements, receipt of borrower financials, and credit metric trends
Participate in quarterly portfolio reviews, including analysis of operating statements, rent rolls, and risk assessments for an assigned portfolio of credits.
Support both existing property transactions (including refinancings) and ground-up construction projects, including monitoring project budgets and reviewing monthly construction draws through project completion
Assist with new deal originations, evaluating opportunities with transaction sizes typically ranging from $50 million to $100 million
Support annual company-wide credit reviews for clients with multiple property holdings, including analysis beyond the properties financed by the bank
Participate in client meetings and/or site visits, as available, to support underwriting, portfolio management, and risk discussions
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
Three to five years of experience in a finance/analytical related role
Preferred Skills/Experience
Strong financial analysis and credit underwriting skills within a commercial real estate @context; banking experience is highly desired
Effective analytical and technical report-writing skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly present findings and risk considerations
Ability to work independently, performing financial analyses as a first line of defense and escalating potential issues appropriately
Experience executing straightforward credit requests for existing clients and authoring credit analyses
Ability to collaborate effectively with Credit Approvers and internal risk partners
Comfort independently participating in client bank meetings, when necessary
Familiarity with banking policies and commercial real estate underwriting processes
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
Experience with nCino and CoStar preferred
Location expectations

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $98,345.00 - $115,700.00
