The Automotive Sales Manager is an on-the-floor leader who drives volume, gross, and profitability by desking and structuring deals, actively closing customers, and building a dominant, accountable sales team. This role blends strategic leadership with hands-on deal-making and coaching, ensuring daily execution, strong customer satisfaction index (CSI), and a competitive, winning culture.

Responsibilities

Desk, structure, and approve deals to maximize volume, front-end gross, and overall profitability.

Perform effective turnovers (TOs) and personally close deals when needed.

Collaborate with Finance and Insurance to improve product penetration and optimize deal structure including rate, terms, and advances.

Guide appraisal strategy with Used Car leadership; align price-to-market and reconditioning timelines to support sales velocity.

Own the daily game plan by setting targets for appointments, shows, write-ups, demos, and closes; run morning huddles, mid-day standups, and end-of-day recaps.

Manage CRM/BDC workflow including lead assignment, response times, follow-up cadence, and pipeline hygiene across internet, phone, and showroom traffic.

Oversee pricing strategy and merchandising through Vauto, e-commerce platforms, photos, and descriptions to keep inventory moving.

Monitor and improve sales process adherence including road-to-the-sale, pencils, menu presentations, trade process, and test-drives.

Maintain CSI standards by addressing customer concerns quickly and coaching for experience excellence.

Recruit, hire, and onboard high-caliber sales consultants who thrive in a fast-paced, competitive environment.

Deliver structured training on product, process, objection handling, and digital retailing with side-by-sides, role plays, and live deal coaching.

Set clear expectations, provide frequent feedback, and hold the team accountable to activity and results.

Partner with Service/Parts to support accessory sales and service-to-sales handoffs.

Work with Marketing/BDC on campaign strategy, lead quality, and attribution.

Coordinate with Accounting and Title/DMV to ensure clean, accurate paperwork and timely funding.

Essential Skills

Sales management experience in the automotive industry.

Customer service expertise.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Demonstrated closing, desking, and deal-structuring mastery with consistent results.

Confident, decisive leadership style with a high-energy, competitive mindset and strong work ethic.

Ability to thrive under pressure, set pace, and deliver consistent performance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Hands-on expertise with common dealership systems such as DealerTrack, Reynolds/CDK, eLeads/VinSolutions, Vauto.

Working knowledge of Finance and Insurance menus, lender programs, and funding requirements.

Strong coaching and talent development track record; prior experience building teams.

Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.

Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, onsite position requiring evening and weekend coverage aligned with dealership sales hours.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $52000.00/yr.
