Job duties Advise leading multinational corporations in proceedings before international tribunals. Provide top-tier international arbitration capabilities in commercial and investor-state disputes. Provide cutting-edge arbitral award and judgment enforcement strategies and solutions, with deep proficiency in cross-border litigation, and best-in-class advocacy. Advise clients on each stage of the dispute resolution process, from the drafting of arbitration clauses to mediation or early neutral evaluation, to the conduct of arbitration proceedings and through to the enforcement of arbitral awards. Handle parallel or related litigation. Effectively represent clients in complex cross-border crises and disputes. Conduct cases under diverse bodies of substantive law and before many of the worlds leading arbitrators. Oversee and provide training to junior members of the team on fundamental lawyering skills and the handling of complex international arbitrations. Coordinate with and manage local counsel in non-U.S. jurisdictions on issues of foreign law. Assist in the coordination of global investigative and asset recovery efforts. Ability to telecommute from a location within reasonable commuting distance of the office worksite and must be available to report in-person as needed. 10% travel to domestic and international locations. Education and Experience required Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and 3 years of experience as an International Arbitration Attorney or related occupation. Employer will also accept Master of Law (LL.M.) 3 years of experience as an International Arbitration Attorney or related occupation. Background Licensed to practice law in New York.Position requires 3 years in:1) International commercial and investment arbitration;2) Ad hoc arbitration proceedings and at least one major arbitral institution and rule, including the AAA/ICDR, ICC, HKIAC, ICSID, SCC, UNCITRAL, LCIA, SIAC, or CAS;3) Legal research and writing case-shaping motions and briefs;4) Diverse sector experience in one of the following: mining, technology, telecommunications, energy, insurance, construction, pharmaceutical, consumer products, or banking sectors;5) Representing clients in a wide range of disputes, including one of the following: foreign investments, concession and privatization agreements, infrastructure projects, insurance and reinsurance arrangements, joint ventures, licensing and distribution agreements, pricing disputes, patent-related disputes, or complex financial transactions;6) Training and leading junior members of the team on fundamental lawyering skills and the handling of complex international arbitrations, as well as collaborating with multi-jurisdictional matter teams comprising attorneys from major global centers for international arbitration outside the U.S.;7) Working with comparative and foreign laws, as well as working with international investment treaty law and practice, including resolving disputes under bilateral investment treaties between sovereign states;8) Working with at least one of the following soft law instruments frequently applied in international arbitration: IBA Rules on the Taking of Evidence in International Arbitration, IBA Guidelines on Party Representation in International Arbitration, or IBA Guidelines on Conflicts of Interest in International Arbitration;9) Managing cross-border crises, such as preparing emergency provisional measures applications; and10) Assisting in thought leadership, such as writing client alerts, articles, reviewing publications, or assisting with webcasts and presentations. Location New York, NY Rate of pay $260,000 to $350,000 per year, depending on qualifications & other operational considerations.
