Position classification
Hybrid -- Job duties and expectations allow for onsite and remote work scheduled every week. Employees in this classification are regularly scheduled onsite one (1) to four (4) days per week based on the County needs and as determined by Department Director. Hybrid classified roles can be onsite more than the set minimum based on employee preference.

The 17th Judicial District Attorney's Office is committed to seeking and pursuing justice on behalf of victims of crime through the fair and ethical prosecution of those who commit offenses in our community. With a focus on education, treatment, and a reduction in recidivism, the District Attorney's Office will also work vigorously to reform the criminal justice system to better serve those who live and work in Adams and Broomfield Counties.
The CJCC seeks a highly motivated Master of Public Health (MPH) intern to support grant development and cross-system coordination focused on juvenile justice through a public health lens with the 17th Judicial District. This role will work directly with senior leaders across courts, prosecution, probation, detention, behavioral health, education, and community partners to help design, fund, and evaluate prevention and diversion focused initiatives for youth. The intern will gain exposure to high-level justice system leadership while contributing to grant-ready projects that address root causes of youth system involvement.
Examples of Duties for Success
Grant Development & Funding Strategy
Research and track relevant funding opportunities aligned with juvenile justice and public health (prevention, diversion, behavioral health, reentry)
Support development of grant components (needs assessments, logic models, evaluation plans, performance measures)
Draft and coordinate sections of proposals, MOUs, and partner commitments
Assist with grant reporting and compliance documentation
High-Level Stakeholder Coordination (17th Judicial District)
Support CJCC leadership in convening and staffing executive-level workgroups across the 17th Judicial District (judiciary, DA, public defender, probation, detention, behavioral health, school districts, and community partners)
Prepare executive-ready briefing materials, agendas, and summaries
Translate public health concepts into practical justice-system language for decision-makers
Track commitments, timelines, and deliverables across partner agencies
Juvenile Justice Through a Public Health Lens
Support development of youth-focused initiatives grounded in prevention, trauma-informed care, and diversion from detention
Conduct literature and policy scans on evidence-based public health approaches to reducing youth justice involvement
Assist with baseline data collection and outcome measures related to youth detention, diversion access, and service linkage
Contribute to program design that addresses upstream drivers of juvenile system involvement (behavioral health needs, school exclusion, family instability, community violence exposure)
Strategic Communications & Reporting
Draft concise memos and executive summaries for CJCC and DA leadership
Support presentations to commissioners, judges, and funding partners
Prepare grant-ready narratives and one-pagers describing CJCC initiatives
Qualifications for Success
Desired Qualifications
Current enrollment in an accredited Master of Public Health (MPH) program (health policy, community health, public health law, epidemiology, or related concentration preferred)
Strong writing skills, particularly for policy or grant-oriented work
Comfort engaging professionally with senior leaders and cross-agency stakeholders
Interest in juvenile justice, prevention, behavioral health, and systems change
Strong organizational skills and discretion with sensitive information
Deliverables & Learning Outcomes
At least one grant application or grant-ready proposal package
Stakeholder coordination materials (briefing memos, agendas, executive summaries)
Public health-informed concept paper for a juvenile justice initiative in the 17th Judicial District
Professional development in high-level interagency coordination and public-sector grant development
Time Commitment & Logistics
15-40 hours/week depending on academic requirements
