The DON position is to oversee and provide for the smooth daily operation of the assigned programs, plan for the development of the assigned programs to meet changing patient populations, and to participate with the facility's Management team in planning the facility's response to changes in the health care market.
This position is a full-time position and will function in conjunction with other delegated clinical/administrative staff.
Oversees general education for staff, including department-specific and facility-wide in-services.
Collaborates with others to coordinate training schedules and records for new employee orientation, ACBIS, ongoing training, Mandt, CPR/First Aid, ACLS, training sweep, etc. for all nursing staff.
This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading the overall quality strategy for Lakeview.
This position is directly responsible for the direction, coordination, and management of resources for Quality Assurance, Process Improvement, and Patient Safety.
This position is responsible for the effective coordination, collaboration, and communication across departments to ensure that the services and programs are relevant and compliant with applicable State, Federal and accreditation standards, contractual obligations, and company policies and procedures.
Pay: The salary will start at $125k and can be negotiable.
Key Responsibilities:
To provide the direct or collaborative supervision of delegated clinical/administrative staff necessary to provide efficient and effective utilization of all resources to create a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, family, and staff within the program.
The DON is available to delegate staff to assist with crisis situations, consumer relation issues, ongoing education, and staff development. Serves as nurse executive.
Works in collaboration with delegated management staff regarding facility operations, program development, marketing, and financial planning. Participates in organizational executive level decision making.
To participate in the programs and the facility's monitoring of Performance Improvement/Program Evaluation goals.
Plans and coordinates with the Administrator/COO, utilizing other respective department managers, for planning the budgeting requirements for personal performance of work, supplies, and equipment. Responsible for cost control to ensure maximum effectiveness of funds expended upon the approved Departmental budgets.
To provide services consistent with Lakeview Specialty Hospital & Rehab's mission, administratively, clinically, and through Human Resources procedures.
Organizes, directs, and administers Patient Care Services in order to provide the level of care required by current medical and nursing standards. Establishes and approves policies, procedures, and programs. Ensures a sound Performance Improvement Program for areas of responsibility.
Provides oversight for publicly reported data and has responsibility for all regulatory body surveys.
Assists the Administrator with clinical risk management functions including grievance resolution. Acts as the Patient/Family Representative. Consults with family members and external/internal advisors regarding the clinical status of patients when appropriate. Collaborates with program and department directors to ensure therapeutic and regulatory integrity.
Oversees facility patient safety initiatives in order to maintain an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors.
Application of facility personnel policies to facts regarding employment actions without regard to race, religion, age, national origin, sex, or disability.
Facilitates continuous performance improvement for the organization using evidence-based methods with a focus on using data to improve outcomes.
Adheres to facility safety practices and procedures.
Ensures that cordial relationships are maintained with patients, their families and friends, and other interested groups in the community. Interprets the goals of patient care services areas to the community by maintaining harmonious and effective relationships with the education system, agencies, and the community.

Qualifications
Skill, Knowledge, and Abilities: Knowledge of Long-Term Medically Complex and Critically Acute inpatient care, and/or emergency medicine /trauma services. Strong verbal and written skills, strong organizational and leadership skills, ability to speak confidently in public, ability to maintain professional records and patient confidentiality and ability to maintain professional relationships with staff and patients. Demonstrates good problem solving, decision making, and judgment skills in high stress situations. Understanding of management, budgeting, and marketing principles. Emotional stability necessary to perform essential functions.
Education: BSN required. Master's degree in nursing or related field preferred.
Licensure: Current Wisconsin State Registered Nurse License.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years in management-related activities, and clinical experience with Long-Term Acute Care or Short Term Acute Care ICU experience required. Demonstrated leadership abilities.
