Position Summary
The current vacancy is in the Workforce Solutions department.
This 20 hour per week, onsite position (at the Ramsey County Government Center) is the main point of contact for Workforce Solutions, helping clients and job seekers connect with programs, services, and job search resources within the county. They are responsible for attending the phone and tracking all calls, greeting people that enter CareerForce - Saint Paul, processing incoming and outgoing mail, and providing a high level of customer service to each person that calls in or enters our space in person.

To perform administrative support functions for office support or customer service activities, and responsibilities are typically based on defined goals and processes or methods. Job duties may include records maintenance, public contact and general office services; and to perform related duties as assigned.

Examples of Work Performed
Perform duties relating to forms and records maintenance such as gathering documents and information to establish, maintain and update files; searching files for information; maintaining departmental records and statistics; opening, maintaining and closing case files.
Perform public contact duties such as receiving and routing phone calls; responding to complaints, inquiries and service requests by phone and in person; directing clients or visitors to proper locations; assisting the public in completing forms; verifying information and data;scheduling appointments for clients or staff; and assigning service requests to program units or staff in accordance with established guidelines.
Perform general office services to include opening, sorting and distributing mail and preparing outgoing mail; preparing and sending form letters and composing routine letters; scanning documents; and related duties.
Perform administrative functions in unit assigned, such as; maintaining inventories of office supplies; preparing, or processing contracts/agreements, reimbursements, requisitions, purchase orders and accounts payable forms; generating reports;preparing, checking or processing bills to patients, clients or other agencies; processing payments; and maintaining and balancing accounts.
Receive, sort, and distribute a variety of correspondence, delivieries, and mail; and scanning and faxing documents.
May provide training and support to incoming employees.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: High school graduation or equivalent.
Experience: Three (3) years of office support, customer service or administrative experience.
Substitution: Equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
Exam/Screening Process Information
This is an unclassified, limited duration, at-will position. This position requires an open screening and selection process. There is no exam for this unclassified, at-will, position. All applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be forwarded to the department for consideration. Employment isn't guaranteed beyond the end of this assignment.
Definition of Unclassified from the Ramsey County Personnel Act:
Subdivision 1. General. "The appointing authority may discharge employees in the unclassified service with or without cause. Employees in the unclassified service have no right to a grievance appeal from discharge or other disciplinary action under sections 383A.281 to 383A.301. An employee in an unclassified position shall not have tenure but shall be entitled to all benefits associated with tenure such as vacation leave, sick leave, health insurance, and other benefits as determined by the county board."
