Description

We are looking for a meticulous Payroll Tax Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Dalton, Georgia. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in payroll operations and tax compliance, particularly in multi-state payroll environments. The successful candidate will bring a strong foundational knowledge in federal Payroll tax and state guidelines, analytical skills and attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in payroll processing and compliance with regulatory standards. Must be able to work onsite in Dalton, Georgia

Responsibilities:

Manage payroll tax reporting and compliance, including setting up and auditing local tax jurisdictions.

Establish and maintain online accounts with tax agencies to ensure streamlined operations.

Review and analyze payroll data, identifying discrepancies and making necessary corrections.

Collaborate with other departments to resolve payroll-related issues and inquiries.

Utilize payroll software to manage payroll processes and reporting, if applicable.

Audit payroll records regularly to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.

Provide expertise in domestic payroll operations, including adherence to state and local tax rates.

Generate detailed reports and summaries for management review.

Apply foundational knowledge of payroll regulations to maintain compliance and accuracy.

Requirements

Proven experience in full-cycle payroll processing, preferably in a multi-state environment.

Strong understanding of payroll tax regulations and reporting requirements.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.

Previous experience with full-scope payroll accounting software.

Ability to set up and manage online tax agency accounts.

Demonstrated ability to audit and correct payroll data with precision.

Analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail.

Knowledge of domestic payroll operations and local tax jurisdictions.
