The incumbent reports to the PCT (PTSD Clinical Team) Program Manager. Primary duties are to provide a full range of psychological services to veterans with PTSD and comorbid disorders and serve as the subject matter expert in PTSD/SUD to the Mental Health Care Line. The PCT is an outpatient clinic that serves as a higher level of care for veterans with acute/severe and complex PTSD and treats trauma across the lifespan. Clinical care will be provided through a combination of virtua/telehealth and in-person services. This position requires specialized knowledge and expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of PTSD and comorbid disorders. lnterventional duties include individual and group therapy, with a primary focus on time limited evidence-based trauma therapies. All therapists in the PCT are expected to provide Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE). Experience with Eye Movement Sensitization Disorder (EMDR) and Concurrent Treatment of PTSD and Substance Use Disorders (COPE) is also important for this position. Staff Psychologist will serve as a subject matter expert in the content specialty area of PTSD and Substance Use Disorders. This will include providing consultative services to the PCT and other departments, as well as developing collaboration across programs (in particular PCT, inpatient psychiatry, PTSD/SUD residential program, Addiction Treatment Services, and general outpatient mental health), to provide optimal care for veterans with PTSD and SUD diagnoses. Incumbent will have specialized knowledge of the interaction and relationship between substance use and trauma, as well as leadership skills to develop programs and presentations for this subject matter. Duties: Ability to diagnose mental disorders and conduct psychological and/or cognitive function assessments and neuropsychological screenings. Ability to treat mental disorders through a variety of modalities and provide adjunctive interventions for treatment of medical disorders. Provides a full range of psycho-diagnostic services including assessment and using the most appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques in providing quality care. Performs evaluations for psychodiagnosis, treatment planning and functional evaluations. Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions including individual and group psychotherapy, family therapy, consultation, rehabilitation and psychoeducation. Consults with medical center staff on a wide variety of patient care issues. Staff clinical psychologists may be involved in program evaluation and/or research activities. Psychologists who are not licensed must practice under the supervision of a licensed psychologist but with less intense supervision than at the GS-11 grade level.
