Job Summary:
This is an Accountant I position in the Finance and Accounting office - Accounts Payable section, which performs a range of financial accounting duties.
Your Specific Responsibilities:
Performing accounting functions associated with the auditing and scheduling of payments to vendors, providers, and other agencies.
Auditing and preparing invoices and verifying established accounting codes to ensure accuracy prior to disbursement of funds.
Responsible for reconciling, and researching expenditure transactions, data entry, and processing departmental correcting entries.
Ensure proper documentation for purchasing card charges and reconcile charges through state approved systems.
Monitoring pending invoices to ensure in line with Prompt Payment Compliance.
Maintain vendor payment information and data for services using various databases and organizational codes.
Serve as back-up to accounts payable team.
Perform other accounting duties, as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum
Experience performing accounts payable functions in a business setting.
Experience navigating, entering, and retrieving data from various computer systems, and databases in a professional work environment.
Proficiency in working with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word)
Preferred
Two or more years' professional experience independently processing medical or healthcare accounts payable, within the last five (5) years.
Professional experience in financial accounting systems; to enter, track, and retrieve accounts payable data.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of: Basic accounting principles and procedures, use of accounting systems; methods of data collection and analysis; problem solving techniques; correct spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Skills in: The use of standard software programs including Microsoft Office Suite; navigating various financial software applications, auditing and tracking invoices, payments, approvals and documentation, public speaking and communicating technical information at appropriate levels to different audiences.
Ability to: Understand and apply applicable policies, and procedures; analyze financial transactions and reconcile accounting records; think critically; organize, analyze and evaluate data; review data for accuracy and completeness.
