The Ad Sales Finance Manager is responsible for digital ad sales finance processes for the NBCU News organization including NBC News and The Today Show, Versant News including CNBC and MS NOW (formerly MSNBC), and the growing portfolio of news specific virtual/FAST channels. This role provides the unique opportunity to gain a solid understanding of NBCU Ad Sales through daily exposure/interaction with Sales, Planning, Inventory, Research, business development, and Division Finance functions. This position will report to the Finance Director for News, FAST, and TV Distribution.
This role will have significant exposure to revenue-related finance/pricing for these growing and dynamic businesses. The manager will oversee Ad Sales Finance responsibilities for all News digital properties, including:
Revenue forecasting (annual budget, quarterly forecasts, long range plan, monthly operational reviews and other estimates and presentations as required)
Analyzing and reporting sales risks and opportunities against targets by identifying core drivers (i.e.: traffic, pricing, sell-thru, etc.)
Develop a core understanding of the news digital businesses (display, video, social)
Tracking inventory and revenue shares across all channels
Processing and tracking partner payments and ensuring that all payments are made according to contractual timelines
Partnering with strategy, operations, and BI to ensure that financial reporting will be accurate and available for all new channel launches
Own core ad sales revenue functions across traditional News publishing partnerships
Responsible for key sales finance functions including general ledger postings of actuals/accruals and maintaining high levels of controllership in the ad sales process
Coordinate with billing team to ensure that billing, revenue recognition and sales pacing are aligned, billing adjustments/barter agreements/revenue shares are managed correctly, etc.
The role will also help to manage the digital & streaming reporting process for the entire NBCU portfolio, ensuring that revenue reporting is timely and accurate. This includes interfacing with BI, Ad Product Teams, and internal finance teams to ensure that new initiatives and products are properly setup for weekly reporting.
Improve digital media ad sales analytics
Enhance depth of existing reporting to provide better analytical tools for both Finance and Sales teams
Monitor reporting tool outputs for accuracy across all data metrics, and investigate irregularities
Represent Ad Sale Finance function with internal digital media counterparts on key initiatives (ie: research/measurement changes, systems enhancement, etc.)
Four-year degree (B.A., B.S.) at an accredited college or university
4+ years of finance experience
Prior experience in a finance role supporting an ad sales function within a media or entertainment company highly desired
Ability to build financial models (i.e.: advanced excel skills) and presentations for senior leadership
Aptitude for pubic speaking and presenting to senior leadership
Demonstrate analytical strength and process mindset - ability to identify and resolve key issues quickly
Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines with accuracy
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Thorough knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Demonstrates leadership skills, especially ability to influence and lead change in cross-functional teams
Proven team player with the ability to take on different assignments/projects in a timely manner
High energy and ability to multi-task
Eligibility Requirements
Willingness to travel and work overtime, and on weekends with short notice
Hybrid: This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
