Job Summary:
This position oversees daily warehouse and packaging operations in a safety-sensitive environment that requires application of independent judgment in a variety of settings and activities to direct the activities of multiple employees. Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, the Warehouse Supervisor plans work and directs up to 10 employees, ensuring efficient material handling, packaging, equipment operation, documentation accuracy, and adherence to safety standards.The role requires oversight of the operation of packaging equipment, coordination of shipping/receiving activities, and routine maintenance responsibilities. Must be able to take directions and lay out job assignments to the Warehouse staff. Additional duties and responsibilities may be added or deleted at any time. Essential Functions/Duties:
Warehouse Operation
Oversee daily unloading, receiving, labeling, and storage of materials.
Direct order pulling, staging, repacking, and labeling to meet customer requirements.
Ensure conduct of system transactions for receiving/shipping.
Direct and assist in cycle counts and inventory adjustments.
Ensure forklift and equipment inspections are completed daily.
Maintain housekeeping and enforce safety rules.
Must participate in training and development programs to include Leadership Development.
Packaging Operation
Apply the discretion necessary to supervise staff of up to 10 employees in the course of daily warehouse operations (Utility and Packaging Forklift Operators).
Oversee transfer system operations and forklift activities.
Oversee operation of packaging equipment: High speed bagging lines, scales, palletizers, palletizing robot, pallet dispensers, printers, conveyors, stretch hooders, shrink wrappers, and bag kickers.
Communicate equipment issues and maintain packaging-related inventories.
Ensure production documentation accuracy and compliance with safety procedures.
Ensure maintenance of clean work areas and enforce housekeeping standards.
Report any related operational problems to the Operations Manager.
Maintenance
Ensure safe equipment isolation and strict Lockout/Tagout compliance.
Oversee preventive and routine maintenance programs for packaging and warehouse equipment.
Coordinate repair activities with maintenance personnel and track issue resolution.
Shipping/Receiving
Oversee truckload/container paperwork and daily shipping/receiving records.
Monitor shipping deadlines and supervise loading operations.
Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous warehousing experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
Previous experience in supervisory role (preferably in warehousing).
Physical Demands
While this role operates in a warehouse environment and requires familiarity with equipment and workflows, the primary duties involve supervision, coordination, inspection, and oversight of operations rather than routine manual labor. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. These tasks include, but are not limited to:
Must be able to work long hours, weekends and holidays when needed.
Must be able to perform physical labor such as: lifting up to 55 pounds, moving up to 250 pounds, climbing ladders, operate control panels and working with hand tools.
Must be able use fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and speak and hear.
Must possess adequate vision to include close visual confirmation of finely printed documents, distance vision to safely and correctly identify objects and or markings, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus on subjects or objects at any safe working distance.
Licenses/Certificates:
Must be Forklift Certified and maintain proper credentials during employment period.
Skills:
Ability to work independently and as part of team.
Ability to recognize onsite risk factors and take appropriate action with firmness and tact.
Must be able to safely operate a forklift and must pass site forklift certification.
Must have the ability to think independently and make decisions that are in the company's best interest.
Must possess excellent interpersonal, communications and organizational skills. Must be multi-task oriented with the ability to handle many activities simultaneously.
Additional Job Details:
Supervisory Responsibility:
Must provide positive leadership for all assigned staff.
Maintain the appropriate amount of staffing to accomplish the required production goals.
Maintain a safe work environment.
Conduct, supervise and document daily safety meetings.
Conduct, supervise and document production staff training.
Monitor and supervise daily equipment inspections, and ensure that inspection paperwork is done correctly and turned in daily (i.e.; forklift, transfer system and compressor inspections, etc.)
Directly supervise up to 10 warehouse and packaging employees.
Interview, select, and train new hires in coordination with management and HR.
Conduct evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and development.
Recommend corrective action and disciplinary measures as appropriate to manager.
Provide input as needed regarding hiring, termination, promotion, and compensation decisions.
Advise manager in regard to time off requests, monitor attendance, and manage overtime allocation.
Maintain appropriate staffing levels to meet operational needs.
The Supervisor may perform production or operational tasks on a limited and incidental basis during emergencies, training, or temporary staffing shortages. Such duties are not the primary function of the role and do not exceed supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
This position operates in a fast-paced warehouse setting, with some outdoor exposure possible during the workday. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, and standard warehouse equipment such as hand trucks, box cutters and tape dispensers.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time, exempt position. Monday through Friday, with occasion weekend work. Hours of operation depend on shift assigned. Must be able to work overtime, long hours, nights, weekends and holidays when needed.

Little to no travel is expected for this position.
