Summary This position is located at the Albany VAMC, Facilities Management Service. Responsibilities Duties include but not limited to: Incumbent is responsible for planning, coordinating and directing the work of the Boiler Plant, Chiller Plant, Sections of Facilities Management Service. And the Operations Section of the Facilities Management Service which is comprised of the Electric & Elevator Maintenance Shop, as well as the Plumbing, & Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Shops, Incumbent is required to plan and schedule work assignments on a long-range basis for accomplishment by the shops, plants and sections supervised within schedules and priorities established by the Facilities Operations Manager and the Facility Manager. He/she analyzes work schedules, determines manpower requirements and plans work assignments, considering trades involved, availability of manpower and equipment, deadlines and other work projects for which responsible. Provides information and advice to Facility Manager on such matters as ability to accomplish work assignments as scheduled, changes in production techniques or other changes in facilities. Prepares the annual budget for funds needed for maintenance and repair including contracted services for building service equipment, and all other equipment, excluding biomedical equipment. Perform other assigned duties. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Duties are usually split between sedentary and physical. The characteristics of the job may entail stressful work conditions requiring emotional maturity, tact and diplomacy in order to operate effectively. The work environment is split between an office setting and other occupational settings related to physical building maintenance requirements in a healthcare setting. This could include, but is not limited to construction sites, medical surgical, mental health and long-term care settings, as well as shop and trade-related settings.
