The Trade & Shopper Marketing Manager acts as the conduit between marketing, sales, and the consumer by developing and executing effective trade & shopper marketing strategies that drive sales and increase visibility, velocity, ACV, and market share. This role is critical in ensuring that Deschutes Brewery's brands and products, including PARTYBOMB and Boneyard Beer, are prominently displayed at retail, and campaigns and promotions are executed flawlessly in the last three feet of the consumer journey. This role requires strong planning and communication skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, creativity and proactivity.
This position is on-site, based out of Bend, OR.
What You'll be Doing:
Supports the development of trimester programming for national accounts that supports our on-premise, off-premise and convenience retail channels.
Responsible for maintaining a retail-focused calendar and executing deliverables on-time.
Works closely with the marketing and sales team to ensure that trade & shopper marketing plans are aligned with the sales objectives, retailer needs, and brand strategies.
In collaboration with National Accounts, the role develops and implements shopper marketing plans that drive sales growth, increase brand awareness, and enhance customer loyalty. Examples of core tasks include digital coupon programs, rebates, sweepstakes, setting up in-store sampling events, on-boarding sampling teams, and working with third party vendors on paid marketing programs.
Conducts regular reviews of trimester program performance; presents findings to Marketing and Sales to inform future programming, channel strategies and channel activation. Proactively makes program recommendations to optimize opportunities.
In close collaboration with the Brand Director/Manager, Sales Team, Merchandise Manager and Design Team, develops promotional materials, such as POS, displays, on-premise items and promotional items that increase brand awareness, purchase intent, velocity, and supports the sales objectives and the customer experience.
Analyzes market trends, consumer behavior, and the competitive landscape to identify opportunities for growth and improvement within the trade.
Manages the Deschutes, Boneyard's and PARTYBOMB's digital presence on 3rd party e-commerce websites.
Assists with trade shows and customer focused events including booth design, staffing and promotions. Attends events as assigned.
Identifies opportunities to drive loyalty and retention through promotions, events, and customer engagement programs.
Establishes tracking and reporting tools that monitor activities, correlate activities to sales and monitor ROI.
Comply with industry and legal regulations, as well as Deschutes Brewery safety practices, policies and procedures and actively promotes safe work practices.
Supports an inclusive and equitable workplace and follows all Deschutes Brewery practices, policies, and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What You'll need for this Position:
5-7 years of experience in marketing or trade marketing, with at least 3 years managing the activation of off premise trade programs in the U.S. market.
Fluency in shopper marketing and ability to manage planning, activation, and redemption of each chain program.
CPG experience required; beverage or beer experience is a plus!
Experience building and developing tools, systems, and implementing ways of working to drive consistency and effectiveness across all channels, customers, and sales.
Strong program marketing skills with an ability to turn quantitative insights into creative trade programs that drive profitable growth.
A demonstrated capability driving growth through innovative and successful retail campaigns and activations.
Excellent knowledge of national accounts, on/off/convenience channel trade activation needs.
Strong cross functional teamwork and collaboration skills and ability to manage many different stakeholders across the organization.
Competent project management skills to deliver on time and on budget.
Strong planning, communication, project management and analytical skills.
Preferred Education, Experience & Attributes:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or related field.
Experience in retail marketing in beer, wine, or spirits background experience preferred.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
General office environment with prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
Ability to travel as needed
