Construction Project Manager - Transit Infrastructure

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager with a strong background in transit, rail, or transportation infrastructure to oversee complex field operations and project delivery for major public-sector construction projects. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience working for a general contractor and understands the unique demands of transit environments, including coordination with agencies, strict safety protocols, and multi-disciplinary trade management.

This is a high-visibility role for someone who thrives in fast-paced, schedule-driven environments and can lead teams through planning, execution, and closeout with precision.

Key Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day construction activities across civil, structural, and transit-related scopes.

Lead project planning, scheduling, procurement, and subcontractor coordination.

Oversee field operations to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with contract documents.

Interface with transit agencies, inspectors, engineers, and third-party stakeholders.

Review drawings, specifications, and submittals to ensure constructability and alignment with project requirements.

Track project progress, cost performance, and schedule milestones; prepare regular reporting for leadership.

Manage RFIs, change orders, punch lists, and project documentation.

Conduct site walks to monitor quality, safety, and productivity.

Support risk mitigation strategies and resolve field issues proactively.

Ensure strict adherence to safety standards, especially within active transit environments.

Required Skills & Experience

7-12 years of construction project management experience with a general contractor.

Strong background in transit, rail, transportation, or heavy civil projects.

Proven ability to manage subcontractors, schedules, budgets, and field operations.

Experience working on public agency projects (MTA, DOT, Amtrak, etc.) is highly preferred.

Strong understanding of construction sequencing, safety protocols, and quality control.

Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency with project management software (Procore, Primavera P6, Bluebeam, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.

PMP, CMIT, OSHA 30, or similar certifications.

Experience managing work in active transit or rail corridors.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $160000.00/yr.
