About this position:
The Senior Mortgage Processor is responsible for coordinating, organizing, and maintaining residential loan files, including complex transactions. This role works closely with Mortgage Originators and other department staff to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory requirements. This role serves as a subject matter resource for complex scenarios, regulatory requirements, and process improvement initiatives. This role will primarily focus on operational efficiency, quality control, and superior customer service.
Essential Job Functions:
Complete mortgage processing activities for loans submitted to the processing team, including complex loan transactions. Review and document files for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance prior to submission to underwriting
Provide timely and complete underwriting submissions, coordinating with internal department personnel and external service providers. Communicate effectively with customers and sales teams to obtain required documentation and resolve issues proactively
Maintain full ownership of mortgage loan files once submitted to processing
Prepare, maintain, coordinate, and distribute residential loan files, regulatory disclosures, verifications, and supporting documentation to comply with regulatory requirements and department workflows
Review pipelines for regulatory monitoring, disclosure timing, and critical notifications; track file completeness and escalate potential risks or delays
Serve as a subject matter expert for complex loan structures, guideline exceptions, income analysis, and layered risk scenarios
Independently manage high-volume or high-complexity pipelines while meeting or exceeding service level and quality standards
Perform proactive file reviews to identify compliance risks, documentation gaps, and potential underwriting challenges prior to submission
Assist Mortgage Operations management with complex loans, special projects, reporting, and process improvement initiatives
Contribute to the development and maintenance of processing procedures, job aids, and quality control standards

Education/Certifications:
Associate's degree or equivalent experience preferred
5 years of experience in a mortgage-related field preferred
Encompass experience preferred
Government loan experience (FHA/VA) preferred
Current NMLS registration or ability to obtain NMLS registration
Skills/Knowledge:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, and Outlook as well as banking-related software
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; comfortable communicating with customers, attorneys, co-workers, and management
Strong mathematical and organizational skills; ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
Advanced knowledge of residential mortgage products, underwriting guidelines, and regulatory requirements
Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and mitigate risk early in the loan lifecycle
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Ability to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting, for prolonged periods of time
Ability to repetitively use a telephone, computer mouse, and keyboard for extended durations
Ability to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds
Work is performed primarily in a professional office environment

The salary range for this position is $24.04 - $28.90 commensurate with experience and education.
Additional compensation may be earned through the Company's annual bonus program, subject to individual and company performance.
