Description We are looking for a skilled Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Columbia, South Carolina. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, with expertise in handling financial transactions, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. If you have a strong background in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger management, we invite you to apply.

Responsibilities:

Manage accounts payable processes, including timely payment of invoices and vendor communications.

Oversee accounts receivable activities, ensuring accurate billing and prompt collection of payments.

Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly.

Perform regular bank reconciliations to verify financial accuracy and resolve discrepancies.

Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all financial data is current and accurate.

Handle payroll processing for an employee base of 101-500, ensuring timely and accurate payment.

Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.

Generate financial reports and statements to assist with decision-making and audits.

Identify and address accounting discrepancies, providing solutions to maintain financial integrity.

Support month-end and year-end closing procedures, ensuring all deadlines are met. Requirements - Proven experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger management.

Proficiency in preparing and posting journal entries with attention to detail.

Strong knowledge of bank reconciliation processes and techniques.

Experience in payroll processing for mid-sized organizations (101-500 employees).

Familiarity with accounting software and tools to streamline financial operations.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills in handling financial discrepancies.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
