Summary Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Human Resources Management, Assistant Commissioner's Staff, located in Washington, D.C. Responsibilities Joining Customs & Border Protection (CBP), Office of Human Resources Management (HRM), Assistant Commissioner's Staff, will allow you to utilize your expertise in incorporating the goals and objectives in correspondence and communication forums with agency managers and program officials, exercising judgment, initiative, and leadership while coordinating and representing CBP and HRM programs and initiatives. In this Action Officer position, you will serve as an Advisor to the HRM Chief of Staff (CoS), responsible for supporting the Assistant Commissioner (AC) and Deputy Assistant Commissioner (DAC) as well as front office staff in carrying out sensitive and complex matters for HRM. Typical Duties include: Leading complex analyses and special projects in support of the Human Resources Management (HRM) Chief of Staff, Assistant Commissioner, and Deputy Assistant Commissioner. Developing, evaluating, and implementing HRM and CBP-wide program policies, standards, and guidelines on behalf of the Chief of Staff. Qualifications Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Conducting complex program analysis and providing authoritative recommendations to senior leadership on human capital initiatives, workforce planning, and organizational effectiveness. Developing, evaluating, and implementing policies, procedures, and strategic plans that impact agency-wide operations, including analyzing legislative, regulatory, and operational guidelines to resolve conflicting priorities and advance organizational goals. Communicating sensitive and complex information to senior executives and stakeholders through briefings, presentations, and written reports, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with leadership's vision and objectives. Advising on and coordinating major projects and initiatives across multiple divisions or program offices, including facilitating collaboration, negotiating solutions, and representing leadership in meetings and conferences.
