The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is seeking a person with excellent management skills and knowledge of the field of developmental disabilities for a middle management level Residential Services Director position to oversee and manage the administrative and programmatic operations monitoring expenditures, developing and implementing medium range plans, and modifying procedures in a medium to large-sized program of approximately five to seven residential homes in the DDS Southeastern Residential Services (SRS) program with the homes located in the Taunton Area. The incumbent of this position will be responsible for the direct supervision of approximately five (5) residential supervisors, and indirect supervision and training of approximately eighty to one hundred (80-100) employees, while supporting the multiple needs of the individuals living in the homes. The Manager must be a strategic thinker and must exercise independent judgement. In addition, this position is responsible to supervise subsidiary budgets, real estate, capital equipment and technical information related to the habilitation of individuals with developmental disabilities. The Director will participate in a mandatory department on-call rotation every eight (8) weeks; usually Tuesday to Tuesday 24/7. Supervise and manage within a large, unionized workforce including completing written, employee performance evaluations and taking corrective personnel action, when necessary. Responsible to supervise subsidiary budgets, real estate, capital equipment and technical information related to the habilitation of individuals with developmental disabilities. Manage multiple, high-priority objectives and issues, concurrently. Work, harmoniously, as a member of an integrated management team. Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills and time management and scheduling abilities. Assure full compliance with all Federal, State and Departmental regulations, standards and all Union agreements. Complete, analyze, and/or maintain accurate and detailed records, reports, and projects. Oversee the hiring, training and scheduling of employees as well as managing employee conflict and family/guardian issues/concerns. Work closely with the Human Resources Department with direct communication with the following units: Employment and Staffing, Workers Compensation, Benefits and Leaves, Payroll and Labor Relations to accomplish goals and resolve issues. Incumbents are expected to: Participate in the mandatory department on-call rotation every eight (8) weeks; usually Tuesday to Tuesday 24/7. Ensure programs and projects are fiscally responsible. Implement policy, including developing policy, obtaining support from necessary parties, and disseminating information. Manage daily operations. Recommend budgets and funding priorities. Preferred Qualifications: Extensive Managerial / Supervisory experience in the field of intellectually challenged population. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel/Access/Word Excellent Communication and organizational skills.
