About the role The Manufacturing Manger provides leadership and expertise in establishing and maintaining an efficient manufacturing program in support of the operating plan. The position has overall responsibility for manufacturing processes and projects as well as product costs, quality, delivery of product, materials management, financial planning and factory performance to the plan. Responsibilities Place the health, safety, and welfare of all employees foremost in decision-making, policy, development and directing the organization Motivate all employees, encouraging optimum productivity. Develop, train, assist, and advise supervisors and administer company policies and procedures knowledgeably. Encourage open employee communication Ensure a clean and efficient production environment based on Lean, 6S and other established advanced manufacturing practices Ensure the quality and on-time delivery of all manufactured products Work with Automation and Quality groups to ensure customer requirements and weekly schedules are met according to established standards Oversee Materials function and Warehouse operations, providing guidance and direction and holding responsibility for departmental performance Ensure that ISO procedures are being used and continuous improvement to the production operations Prepare cost and budget estimates and subsequently support the VP of Manufacturing in the development, implementation, and management of the budget Maintain close surveillance and control over operations through perusal of reports, staff meetings, observations and personal contact Collaborate with the appropriate groups to constantly improve efficiency and reduce the lead times for the manufacture and delivery of parts through processes and procedures Motivate all employees, encouraging optimum productivity, develop, train, assist, and advise subordinates and administer company policies and procedures knowledgeably. Encourage open employee communication Develop and maintain a leadership staff that takes responsibility for the quality of performance Responsibilities as a manager include determining manpower requirements based on an understanding of goals and objectives, interviewing, and hiring; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding employees, addressing concerns and resolving problems Manages supervisors and production leads who oversee employees in the production area including Compression Molding and Packaging Direct the maintenance of a safe and healthy working environment by eliminating hazards, training employees, and promoting safety awareness. Continually upgrade, direct, comply with, and enforce company safety programs and policies Maintain performance to established metrics and deliver reports to top management as required Maintain a close relationship to the factory floor including people and processes in a team-based environment Maintain relationships with local and regional governmental authorities Assist in any special projects as assigned by top management Other responsibilities as assigned Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations Management, Engineering, or related field required Minimum five years' management experience in a manufacturing environment Operations daily management, process development, and organizational development Experience in a Lean environment preferred Six Sigma Experience, Green or Black Belt strongly preferred Experience in ISO 9001 required Skills & Abilities Sound Financial acumen Leadership, organizational, and management skills Working knowledge with LEAN, FMEA, 8D, and 6 Sigma Operational knowledge including planning, fabrication, assembly, testing and packaging Project management knowledge required. PMP preferred Must have leadership skills to successfully manage their staff as well as interact with other functions in a non-threatening and cooperative way Self-starter with experience driving toward team-based organizational structure and culture Hands-on approach to problem solving and the ability to work under pressure Ability to read drawings and determine the proper method of manufacturing Capable of interviewing and hiring employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance Solid understanding of work-measurement and manufacturing standards Demonstrated proficiency in time management Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Travel 5%-10% travel Leviton is an EEO/AA Employer.
