Responsibilities
The Director, Information Technology - Physician Practice role is a technology business operations leader responsible for three key activities: 1. Creating and executing a strategy to consolidate, integrate, and optimize EHR technologies, 2. Build an EHR support team for daily tasks, and 3. Act as the Product owner for the Data Warehouse effort to report on management metrics and reporting.
A successful candidate will have to be adept at designing and implementing technology-enabled business solutions for the business, working as a leader and luminary. The candidate should have a deep understanding of the physician practice landscape and the unique issues practices face. Candidate must be able to collaborate with lines of business (finance, operations, managed care, revenue cycle, clinical), to identify pain points and offer technology solutions for business problems. Then take these learnings to work with the broader SCAH Information Technology team to help identify solutions and paths (build, buy, source internally). This role has an opportunity to have significant exposure to internal stakeholders, multiple functional lanes, market operating group leadership, Optum, and high-profile external regional platforms.

Responsibility Description:
This role will have both short term (immediate) responsibilities as well as longer term goals (1-2 years) as a successful candidate builds the functional area.
In addition to responsibilities as assigned, immediate responsibilities a successful candidate will engage with, include:
Integration Support - Candidate will work with local platform/partnerships to guide and advisement on: 1) transitioning to SCA Health solutions and/or 2) EMR/PMS selection and implementation.
Workflow Optimization - candidate will work with departments/lanes to help identify if and how technology can be utilized workflow issues across the functional areas (Revenue cycle, practice workflow, etc)
EHR Support Function - candidate will operationalize a team that will manage access issues, provider additions, implement workflow changes, etc.
Enterprise Data Warehouse - This "EDW" is a foundational initiative to enable the growth and successful delivery of solutions by the national MSO. Candidate will work with the data architecture and other IT team members functioning as a subject matter expert ("SME") to help guide the team in understanding the structure of EMR/Practice Management Solutions and other systems (Phone, Patient Engagement systems) and guide them in successfully transforming the data into the EDW.
Building the multi-specialty technology offering - the 1-2 year vision of this role is to build the services and offering. A successful candidate will focus on:
Visioning and ideation - Resulting in a defined value proposition offering a unique and cutting-edge value proposition; effectively communicating this differentiated service offering to physician stakeholders
Building the solution through collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. This position will be responsible for working with existing SCAH IT resources to pull together a comprehensive offering from internal, existing capabilities and either build or externally sourced capabilities. Some examples include:
Technology Application Strategy - Identify 2-3 standard solutions that can be deployed and readily supported. These would include EHR solutions, mobile charge capture, patient engagement, etc
EMR Optimization and Training - Work with existing training team to develop a training and optimization cosilting program in support of our Architecture and practice space
Listening to the voice of the customer - Our most important stakeholders are our physician partners. Continuous improvement and implementation of (appropriate) feedback
Supporting growth - Depending on the solution path (build or buy) and level of support determined to be appropriate; This role will potentially build out key support functions for clinical applications such as training, project management, and desktop support.
Key Activities:
Integration Support - Candidate will work with local platform/partnerships to guide and advisement on: 1) transitioning to SCA Health solutions and/or 2) EMR/Practice Management Solution selection and implementation.
Act as an advisor to other departments to help them draw insights for existing analytical tools, as well as create requirements around new potential tools
Work with and gain working relationships with Information Technology teammates
Find ways to leverage existing enterprise data and information in company products and services
Prioritize, plan, and track project progress for the department
Participate and lead management meetings in subject area
Consult with and present to partnerships finding
Utilize data analytics to uncover critical business insights and findings
Qualifications
Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field required
10 years of relevant healthcare experience with at least five years of experience managing an IT department. Experience managing an IT department in a physician practice preferred.
Experience with large multi-site medical groups is required
Demonstrated experience with physician practice system selection, implementation, and on-going support
Demonstrated understanding of key physician practice workflows (like patient scheduling, Check-in/Check-out, Revenue cycle)
Ability to collaborate with other departments and organizations (managed care, development, operations, MSO partnerships, physician partners etc.)
Working knowledge of the latest technology solutions and trends in the specialty practice space
Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with physicians
Motivation to achieve individual and team goals, must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
Ability to function as high-level executive and in the weeds in a start-up-like environment
Travel requirements: As needed to support the company and partnerships (estimated 25% - 50%)
