Los Angeles County is under a Department of Justice Consent Decree to improve conditions and mental health care in County jails, as well as supporting justice-involved populations post-release. The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) is seeking qualified candidates to fill emergency Administrative Assistant I vacancies related to the DOJ Consent Decree.
Under the emergency order, applicants who meet the requirements may be hired for an initial period of up to 90 days, with an opportunity for permanent County employment. During your initial work period, you will be assessed on your work performance. This assessment will be weighted 100%.
Those who successfully pass the assessment will be considered for permanent appointment to Administrative Assistant I.

DEFINITION
Analyzes and makes recommendations for the solution of the less complex problems of organization, program, procedures, systems, facilities planning, budget and personnel; or analyzes and makes recommendations for the solution of more difficult problems in the same areas under close supervision and guidance.
Essential Job Functions
Assists in budget preparation by drafting or revising justifications for expenditures and compiling supportive data, as assigned.
Analyzes budget requests for small facilities, divisional requests for additional positions, and small service and supplies or fixed assets budgets.
Coordinates small moves of office or shop personnel and equipment, and arranges for limited public use of County-owned facilities.
Checks operating reports and maintains or supervises the maintenance of administrative records.
Prepares or assists in preparation of reports and recommendations.
Assists in making studies to ascertain the efficiency, economy, and effectiveness of departmental operations, policies, and procedures.
Collects, analyzes, and interprets data relative to the work of the department.
Requirements
SELECTION REQUIREMENTS:
OPTION I: Graduation from an accredited college.*
OPTION II: One year of experience as an Administrative Aid.**
LICENSE:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
PHYSICAL CLASS:
2 - Light. This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.
