The Department of Natural Resources is currently seeking to fill one (1) seasonal, part-time (60% / 24 hrs) Central Services Administrative Specialist position at Forestville / Mystery Cave State Park located in Preston, MN. Workdays are Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Anticipated season dates are early April through early November.
This position manages the Forestville / Mystery Cave State Park Gift Shop including product development, ordering, stocking, sales and all related record keeping. This position promotes Minnesota State Parks and Trails by providing educational materials to the public and generates revenue to be used to fund resource management and interpretive projects for state parks.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Product Development: Assist in development of an appropriate merchandise line and individual products so that park resource themes are properly represented and sales are maximized.
Purchasing: assist in purchasing merchandise and supplies to keep the Gift Shop inventory at an appropriate level.
Pricing: Develop pricing and mark merchandise so that established retail policies are met and accurate sales occur.
Display: Arrange and display products on the selling floor so that a pleasing and organized selection of merchandise is maintained.
Sales and Visitor Services: Conduct merchandise sales and visitor information services so that customers have a pleasant experience and revenue is properly collected.
POS and Records Administration: Operate POS system and prepare and maintain appropriate records so that established fiscal policies are followed and so that business is conducted in an organized manner.
Custodial: Clean storage room, sales area and adjacent public areas so that a safe and well-maintained facility is presented to visitors.
Minimum Qualifications
Math skills sufficient to perform basic math calculations to process and review orders.
English language skills sufficient to communicate clearly and accurately, both verbally and in writing, and sufficient to read and understand a variety of documents.
Customer Service skills sufficient to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to staff and members of the public both over the phone and in person.
Data entry skills sufficient to enter and update data as well as share data reports using computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft outlook, Microsoft Excel and POS software.
Skill in maintaining accurate records and reports.
Knowledge of computerized inventory control systems sufficient to evaluate the current system, recommend changes and update inventories and supplies.
Working knowledge of general office practices and business functions including basic accounting.
Preferred Qualifications
Data entry experience in POS inventory management system.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software, Outlook, Excel, Word.
Experience working in a Minnesota State Park, including knowledge of rules, policies and the current Rec. Dynamics software program.
Work experience in a retail store.
Additional Requirements
This position requires an unrestricted Class D Driver's license with a clear driving record; per DNR Fleet Policy, only those 18 years of age or older with a valid driver's license may operate equipment and vehicles on behalf of the Agency.
