Summary
The Director of Information Technology manages the IT team and ensures the IT infrastructure is reliable, secure, cost efficient, and strategically sound, reflecting business needs and best practice in creating value for the company and our customers.
Essential Job Duties
Design, develop, and implement IT initiatives that create customer and business value.
Direct, plan, and schedule the development, production, and administrative processing of the organization's computer operations.
Assign and schedule work, or delegates work to subordinate managers and supervisors, and reviews work.
Ensure security of company's database.
Manage overall IT budget and long-term financial planning of IT goals.
Ensure the education and training of the principal users.
Establish work standards and key business strategies to drive change, growth, and flexibility.
Consult with department heads involved with proposed projects to ensure cooperation and determine boundaries and priorities.
Review project feasibility studies and confer with computer analysts or engineers to define equipment needs.
Maintain a professional, technical, and clerical staff capable of meeting current and future needs.
Interpret policies, purposes, and goals of organization to subordinates.
Prepare progress reports to inform management of project status and deviation from goals.
Review reports of computer and peripheral equipment production, malfunctions, and maintenance to ascertain costs and plan department operating changes.
Analyze department workflow and workers' job duties to recommend reorganization or departmental realignment within company.
Actively participate in staffing decisions and directs training of subordinates.
Establish, plan, and administer the overall policies and goals for the information technology department.
Analyze the needs of different departments and actively participate with senior management to ensure systems environment addresses the needs of the business.
Manage the research and selection of IT equipment, applications, and supplies.
Adhere to and uphold all Fairbanks Scales policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications - Required qualifications to effectively perform the job. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. (Additional requirements may be designated by position.)
This position requires a bachelor's degree in information technology or a relate field.
MBA is highly desired.
Must have at least ten years of directly related experience in a a progressive web development environment.
Must have at least fifteen years of total IT related experience, including computer operations management, multiple roles in systems implementation, supervision of technical personnel, architecture, security/compliance, business-wide strategic planning and budgetary responsibility.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills and abilities commonly associated with this position.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products - specifically Excel, and Outlook.
Experience with multiple on premises and cloud-based ERP systems such as Infor PRMS and IFS Metrix or similar applications.
Experience with IBM iSeries hardware and DB2 and RPG environments.
Solid understanding of Microsoft control environment applications including Active Directory, SCCM, Azure, Intune and Windows system administration.
Solid understanding of network technologies including Cisco Meraki firewalls and switches.
Experience in working with VMware virtualization environment.
Experience in a SQL / .NET environment.
Strong familiarization with Windows based applications such as Exchange, Dynamics CRM, and Skype telephony connectivity.
Critical thinker with exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to develop and maintain business relationships.
