ONE CURRENT POSITION

35 HOURS PER WEEK POSITION

Under regular supervision, performs cashiering duties in receiving and processing payments. Work involves performing accounting, record-keeping, and clerical activities; and exercising judgment in applying established office practices and procedures. Performs related work as directed. Reports to the Financial Officer.

Duties of Responsibilities:

Collects fines from court; prints receipts for transactions.

Sorts mail; opens mail; obtains case numbers; records court information on outside of envelope; forwards mail to co-workers.

Applies payments received by mail.

Balances cash drawers daily; creates daily reports in MUNIS software for window and internet drawers.

Files daily receipts.

Prepares deposits and submits to Finance Department.

Provides information to the public; advises customers about payments and options.

Receives and/or reviews various records and reports including tickets, computer system, electronic mail, interoffice correspondence, and returned mail.

Prepares and/or processes various records and reports including balance sheet/reports, credit card transactions summary, leave request forms, and receipts.

Refers to City policies, policy and procedure manuals, computer manuals, codes / laws / regulations, publications and reference texts, etc.

Operates a variety of office equipment such as computer, adding machine, credit card machine, etc.

Uses a variety of general office supplies, etc.; and a variety of computer software programs such as Court Management System, Microsoft Outlook, Munis, etc.

Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals including Office Manager, Office personnel, and the public.

Assists Financial Officer with other duties as necessary.

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent supplemented by three or more months of previous experience and/or training involving cashiering; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and ability. Must possess a current, valid Louisiana identification card or driver's license.
