What you'll do...
About the Team
The Pre Purchase / Discovery team owns Walmart's customer-facing web and mobile experiences across discovery, consideration, and engagement. We power how millions of customers land, explore, compare, and decide-across surfaces like Homepage, Search Results (SRP), Category & Browse, Item/Product Detail Pages (PDP), User-Generated Content (UGC: ratings, reviews, Q&A), Lists & Registry, and navigation/interaction frameworks.
We're looking for a Staff Technical Program Manager to lead the most critical and complex frontend initiatives end-to-end-operating at the intersection of UX, frontend architecture, performance engineering, experimentation, and platform integration. Your work will directly influence customer engagement, conversion, and business growth at massive scale.
What you'll do:
Program & Portfolio Leadership
Own a portfolio of complex, interdependent frontend programs aligned to pre-transaction KPIs (engagement, conversion, performance) and experience quality (accessibility, reliability).
Translate product & UX strategy into multi-quarter execution roadmaps spanning web, iOS/Android apps, design systems, experimentation platforms, and platform dependencies (CMS, identity, ads, catalog, personalization).
Lead cross-surface initiatives that unify patterns and performance across Homepage, SRP, Browse, PDP, UGC, Lists & Registry, and Navigation/Discovery frameworks.
Architecture & Technical Leadership
Partner with engineering and architecture to guide foundational frontend decisions across UI architecture, state management, rendering strategies, caching, and component design.
Drive modernization initiatives (e.g., framework upgrades, design-system adoption, scalable component patterns).
Lead technical/design reviews to simplify complexity and ensure long-term maintainability.
Oversee experimentation at scale-running A/B and multivariate tests across key surfaces, defining/monitoring KPIs, ensuring statistical rigor, and synthesizing insights into clear recommendations for senior leadership.
Cross-Functional Influence & Execution Excellence
Align Engineering, Product, Design, Mobile, Platform, SEO, Accessibility, Analytics, Merchandising, and Marketing on shared CX outcomes. Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and constraints; drive mitigation plans and timely decisions in ambiguous spaces.
Coach teams on frontend delivery best practices, dependency management, and execution at scale.
Raise the bar on program management standards and operating rhythms across the Frontend CX organization.
What you'll bring:
7-8+ years driving large-scale frontend or customer-facing product initiatives in complex, cross-functional environments.
Demonstrated success leading multi-quarter programs that span web and native apps with measurable impact on engagement, conversion, and performance.
Proven ability to partner closely with engineering, product, design, data, and platform teams to define scope, manage dependencies, and deliver on time.
Hands-on experience with A/B testing and experiment governance (guardrails, segmentation, holdouts) and turning results into decisions.
Excellent communication and executive storytelling skills; adept at framing trade-offs, risks, and customer impact.
Preferred Qualifications
Background in frontend architecture concepts (state management, rendering, caching, design systems) and performance engineering.
Familiarity with Walmart-scale platforms and integrations (catalog, pricing/promo, personalization, ads, search/relevance).
Tooling proficiency with Jira, Confluence, Figma, Slack, experimentation platforms, and analytics suites.
Track record of leading post-incident reviews, establishing SLAs/SLOs, and implementing durable preventative guardrails.
Bachelor's degree in a technical or quantitative field (or equivalent practical experience).
