Summary Senior Social Worker has experience that demonstrates possession of advanced practice skills and judgment. Work is performed in the Mental Health Fast Track clinic at the William "Bill" Kling Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC ) that provides primary care and specialty care to veterans. The Senior Social Worker in the CBOC works independently and coordinates care for veterans with the interdisciplinary Mental Health Fast Track team. Responsibilities Senior Social worker has experience that demonstrates possession of advanced practice skills and judgment. At least two years should be in an area of specialized social work practice in Psychiatry. Performs specialized treatment of complex physical or mental illness. Incorporates complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and treatment of veteran patients, including making psychosocial and psychiatric diagnoses within approved clinical privileges or scope of practice. Provide individual, group, and family psychotherapy and advanced level case management interventions used in the treatment of veterans with polytrauma injuries, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, visual impairment, post-traumatic stress disorder, addictions, severe mental illness (SMI), and other serious disorders. Practices in specialty mental health areas utilizing outcome evaluations to improve treatment services. Incumbent is able to demonstrate the ability to design changes based on empirical findings. Offers consultation to colleagues and students on the psychosocial treatment of patients treated in specialty areas, rendering professional opinions based on experience and expertise and role modeling effective social work practice skills. Demonstrates the ability to teach and mentor staff and students in the special area of practice and to provide supervision for licensure or specialty certifications. Grade Determinations: In addition to the basic requirements for employment, the following criteria must be met when determining the grade of candidates: GS-12 Senior Social Worker candidates must have the following: Experience/Education: The candidate must have at least two (2) years of experience post advanced practice clinical licensure and should be in a specialized area of social work practice of which, one (1) year must be equivalent to the GS-11 grade level.
