Role Overview:
The Vice President, Account Management & Compliance is a senior leader responsible for the strategic oversight, integrity, and serves as a strategic bridge between account management, compliance, and internal audit functions, ensuring that incentive certifications are reviewed timely, consistently, and in alignment with statutory requirements. The Vice President, Account Management & Compliance uses a data driven approach to analyze certification trends, audit outcomes, and risk indicators to recommend programmatic improvements that strengthen quality, accuracy and operational efficiency.
Salary Statement:
The salary range for this position is $105,000 - $110,000 commensurate with education and work experience.
A Day in the Life:
Strategic Leadership & Governance:
Provide executive leadership over certification, compliance, and program quality functions to ensure alignment with statutory requirements, board directives, and organizational priorities.
Serve as a strategic liaison between account management, compliance, and audit functions to ensure consistent execution and quality outcomes.
Advise executive leadership on certification risk, compliance trends and program integrity.
Represent IEDC in coordination with state agencies, including the Department of Revenue, State Budget Agency, and Office of Management and Budget, on certification, compliance, and audit matters.
Certification Oversight & Program Integrity:
Oversee certification review and approval processes, ensuring decision are supported by statutory eligibility, documented findings, and consistent application of policy.
Establish and maintain certification standards, procedures, and internal controls to support defensible and transparent program administration.
Ensure operational practices balance compliance rigor with efficiency and customer service.
Audit Partnership & Data-Driven Improvements:
Oversee internal audit to ensure timely reviews of incentive certifications and effective follow-through on audit findings.
Analyze certification performance data, audit trends, and error patterns to identify root causes and recommended programmatic improvements
Implement performance metrics and feedback loops that drive continuous improvement across account management functions.
Lead cross-functional remediation efforts to address systemic issues and reduce recurring errors
People & Culture Leadership:
Lead, mentor, and develop senior managers and professional staff within certification and compliance functions.
Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
What You'll Need for Success:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in business, Public Administration or related field
Experience:
5+ years in business, public administration or a combination of these areas, preferably with management or other relevant leadership experience
Proficient with Microsoft suite: Outlook Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CRM, SharePoint
Knowledge of and ability to apply:
Provisions of the Indiana Code affecting Indiana's economic development incentive programs
Principles of corporate structures, business law, audit, compliance, internal controls and finance.
Ability to:
Exercise high level of discretion, with little to no supervision, on significant financial interests and complex governmental and business relationships, confidential and diplomatic matters, and highly visible matters calling for diplomacy and tact.
Uses enterprise approach, understanding interests of the State, interagency relationships, localities, business, and consultants.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Must tactfully negotiate and positively resolve significant matters often involving adverse interests.
Delegate effectively, recognizing issues and decision points, and allocating resources as needed.
Manage departmental budget formulation and processes.
Manage team positively and productively.
Formulate, recommend, and implement administrative policies and procedures to enhance processes.
Negotiate and resolve significant compliance matters. Coordinate and prioritize multiple team tasks while meeting deadlines in fast-paced environment.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Account Management team, other IEDC departments, state and local economic development representatives and the public.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
