The Security Counselor Lead provides leadership and oversight to ensure the safety, security, and therapeutic environment of the facility while supporting patient care, staff coordination, and policy compliance.

Responsibilities include:

Promote staff and patient safety through continuously monitoring and evaluating the environment of care throughout the facility by rounding

Respond to and help de-escalate challenging patient interactions and provide training and skill development for staff

Provide leadership during assigned shift through modeling appropriate work habits, as well as adherence to policies and department procedures

Manage crisis situations using the least restrictive/intrusive methods of intervention, and support patients as necessary in emergency interventions

Complete unit routine scheduled rounds as assigned or deemed necessary to assure a safe environment

Anoka Metro Regional Treatment Center (AMRTC) is an inpatient psychiatric hospital serving adults with mental illness in a large, campus-based setting. The population also includes individuals civilly committed for specialized care, such as competency for criminal court (Rule 20), emergency 48-hour bed holds, and co-occurring mental illness/chemical dependency. Located just 15 minutes north of the Twin Cities metro, this modern facility offers compassionate, person-centered care in a pleasant environment appreciated by patients and employees alike.

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify, you must:

Have a minimum of two (2) years of experience working as Security Counselor in a DCT facility, providing a secure environment, implementing treatment strategies and managing client behavior;

Have no active discipline;

Received an overall rating of "Meets Standards" or above on previous performance reviews

Possess a valid driver's license

Physical Requirements

Standing, sitting, walking, fast walking/running in emergency situations.

Ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds occasionally.

Direct Care & Treatment (DCT) healthcare facilities require employees to provide documentation that they are free from tuberculosis (TB) through a blood test prior to employment. DCT does not accept TB skin testing.
