POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Supply Chain works within the Operations Department providing oversight
over the purchasing process (medical supplies, non-medical supplies, services, equipment, etc.) and inventory process (tracking, receiving, distributing of supplies) across all of the health centers and administrative offices that are part of Planned Parenthood of Greater New York. This Director's responsibilities also include maintaining the purchasing/requisition and inventory software, supporting the monthly and year-end financial closing process and assisting the Vice President of Operations with vendor management and negotiations
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Vendor Strategy & Contract Management: 30%
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
Negotiate pricing, terms, and service agreements.
Evaluate vendor performance using quality, delivery, and cost criteria referenced in SHRM's vendor management guidance.
Maintain compliance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
Inventory Oversight: 30%
Track inventory levels and reorder points with accuracy.
Prevent stockouts and overstocking by using data driven controls similar to those outlines by APQC inventory management standards.
Support cycle counts and inventory audits.
Purchasing Strategy & Market Insights: 10%
Review Market activity using trend reports and benchmarking tools recommended by sources such as Supply Chain Dive.
Forecast demand based on organizational goals and historical purchasing patterns.
Recommend purchasing adjustments to reduce risk and strengthen supply stability
Cross Functional Collaboration: 10%
Maintain a continuous partnership with the finance department to align purchasing with budget plans.
Build and maintain partnerships with operations and department leaders to understand upcoming supply needs.
Resolve supply issues quickly to reduce operational delays.
Cost Control & Performance Reporting: 10%
Track cost trends and procurement of KPls.
Present monthly purchasing reports with insights and improvement opportunities.
Identify cost saving strategies such as strategic sourcing, vendor consolidation, or renegotiation of contracts.
Team Leadership: 10%
Supervise purchasing specialists and support their workflow.
Assign priorities, review workload, and develop staff.
Provide coaching based on Human Resources best practices from resources such as AIHR and SHRM.

QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
Experience in purchasing or supply chain management with responsibility for vendor relations orcontract negotiation.
Experience implementing cost saving initiatives or process improvement.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree preferred
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires prolonged sitting and repetitive tasks including use of a computer. Periodic standing, walking, bending. Requires lifting or moving of up to 15 pounds. Visual acuity sufficient to perform frequent work on a computer screen and review printed reports and other materials. Requires the ability to hear and to communicate orally with others. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets, and will require reaching, grasping, pushing and pulling.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
This job operates in a professional office environment. Potential exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions in a health center environment. Requires flexible schedule and during peak activity periods work in excess of 7.5 hours per day and/or 37.5 hours per week.
