A Brief Summary of This Position
This is an Individual Contributor position with the Site Pro 1 in the Telecom division. Working under the direction of the Facility Manager, and within the guidelines of established procedures, the Picker/Packer is responsible to accurately pick all communication tower components per the packing slip. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for general house keeping of their area.
Essential Functions
Operate the following pieces of production equipment: forklifts
Accurately pick, and pack items based on customer orders
Inventory control activities including cycle counts
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, although most frequent lift is 20 pounds
Ability to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as well as work in non-temperature controlled environment
Ability to stand/walk up to 100% of shift
This position reports into the Facility Manager and has no direct reports
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
High school diploma/GED and 6+ months of relevant education/work experience
The ability to perform basic mathematical functions
The ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions, accurately
The ability to work over overtine, as business needs require
Experience operating a personal computer
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications
1+ year of previous experience working in a warehouse facility
The ability to solve complex problems with high attention to detail and work in a fast-paced environment subject to specific deadlines
The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner and be an integral part of a team environment

SKILL
Educational Background
Math: The ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage as well as draw and interpret bar graphs
Language: Ability to read and comprehend non-complex instructions and short correspondence. Ability to correctly write non-complex correspondence.
Computer skills: Ability to use a computer to send e-mails, access orders, perform inventory control tasks, enroll in benefit programs, record data, perform time keeping functions and request time off
Job Training Skill Development
A Valmont operator's license for a forklift will be required after 90 days on the job. The Picker/Packer generally needs at least one year of training to effectively perform most tasks within the center. At one year of employment, the worker needs to have the ability to correctly use a calculator, label printers, tape measure, shrink wrap machine, and other mechanical equipment such as a stretch wrap machine, pallet jack, span cable machine, banding equipment. Within a year's time, the incumbent should be efficient at loading the Distribution Center's truck and/or trailer in a safe and productive manner.
Decision Making
This job requires the employee to make decisions that affect the orders of the products which they are shipping or manipulating. These are decisions that affect the employee's own work quality and output. Most all day to day activities will be decided by the incumbent. The employee must understand the processes and functions of the equipment to determine when changes need to be made in the routine tasks due to abnormal conditions. This position calls for the employee to have good attention to detail and accuracy when it comes to picking and packing products as well as visually examining all parts that are being manipulated and determining if/when the part needs to be rejected. Incumbent needs to have initiative in solving problems within these everyday activities. Must have a good understanding of their own abilities and knowledge to determine when to seek help making decisions.
