Responsibilities If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for management of the finances pertaining to the U.S. Attorney's Office. Incumbent will provide technical assistance by serving as a point of contact for purchase card obligations and reconciliation, assist with processing invoices, and serve as the Transit Coordinator in the transit subsidy program. Typical work assignments will include: Administering obligations, commitments, and expenditures by creating obligating documents, certifying funds, tracking bulk commitments, and identifying and resolving obligation issues. Preparing and processing invoices for payment, verifying billing accuracy, issuing payments, and resolving disputed or erroneous charges with vendors and internal stakeholders. Reviewing, entering, and reconciling financial data in financial systems, including daily purchase card reconciliation and monthly statement reviews. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-5: To be eligible at the GS-5 level, you must have: at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level; or four years of education above the high school level; or a combination of both specialized experience and education as explained below. Specialized experience is defined as experience entering, reviewing, and correcting accounting transactions in financial systems, reconciling accounting records with invoices or supporting documentation and making adjustments to correct errors, reviewing invoices or payment documents for accuracy and proper coding, and identifying financial discrepancies requiring additional research or follow-up. Combining Education and Experience: Successfully completed post-high school education may be used to meet the total one year of specialized experience requirement equivalent to the GS-4 grade level. GS-7: To be eligible at the GS-7 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level. Specialized experience is defined as experience managing financial transactions involving corrections or prior errors and ensuring accurate recording of payments and charges, reconciling accounts by tracing transactions to determine the source of discrepancies, resolving disputed invoices or payment problems, and analyzing financial data to determine causes of errors and taking corrective action affecting account balances.
