Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as onsite. The successful candidate is expected to report to their assigned GM worksite, five days per week, scheduled weekends, scheduled holidays, and to respond to the site in the event of an emergency after hours, on weekend or holidays.
The Role:
The GSC Shift Leader leads Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS), identifies issues that may impact department or plant performance, and supports communication and training efforts. The role requires strong communication, planning, and organizational skills, along with independent decision-making. It delivers key objectives for the supply chain organization and supports safety, quality, service, responsiveness, people, product, and financial goals. This position interacts with all levels of the organization and collaborates across functions within and beyond the GM worksite.
What You'll Do:
Safety & Compliance
Promote a strong safety culture through daily observations, weekly audits, and verification of corrective actions.
Ensure new employees complete the No Blip process.
Verify manpower levels meet Required-to-Operate (RTO) standards established by Industrial Engineering.
GMS & Operational Excellence
Ensure all Global Manufacturing System (GMS) principles are properly deployed, understood, and effective within GSC operations.
Represent the department in GMS basketweave meetings.
Maintain and update standardized work documents.
Support the 5-Alarm process and participate in Level 2, 4, and 5 Business Plan Deployment (BPD) reviews.
Supply Chain Leadership & Problem Solving
Analyze complex supply chain issues and lead cross-functional teams to develop and execute effective resolutions.
Manage capacity constraints to minimize production disruptions and reduce premium freight.
Summarize critical issues, solutions, and recommendations for leadership.
Develop creative, cross-functional solutions both within and outside the GM worksite.
Demonstrate flexibility to support extended or off-core hours as needed to resolve issues.
Apply advanced problem-solving skills and implement innovative strategies to improve performance.
Audits & Material Flow
Conduct Workplace Organization (WPO), FIFO, and overflow audits to ensure material-handling compliance.
Support and guide current and future automation initiatives.
Participate in Lean Material Systems (LMS) activities.
Training & People Development
Manage the department's training plan, ensuring readiness and compliance across all roles.
Manage absence and vacation coverage for Group Leaders.
Continuous Improvement & Launch Support
Support department problem-solving initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
Participate in launch readiness and ongoing performance-improvement activities as needed.
Reporting & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Attend PFEP, production, quality, TIP, and other required cross-functional meetings.
Utilize Kronos and Tableau to run overtime reports, monitor trends, and identify improvement opportunities related to HPU and NSOT.
Create effective team communications to support operational alignment.
Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in supply chain leadership roles
5+ years of Manufacturing work experience (preferred in automotive industry)
Available to work 2nd Shift (ability to work off-shift and over-time as needed)
Experience working as a Team Leader
