An Engineering Technician in the Electric Transmission Design department performs assignments in support of the planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance, and performance of the electric transmission system. What does an Engineering Technician Electric Transmission Design do? Assists with the creation of capital work order packages Assists Engineers with various analytical analyses related to the Electric Transmission System, capital budgets and capital projects Assists with the completion of work order closeout packages Assists with the management of the CASCADE Asset database Serves as an administrator for project management software Completes various administrative reporting tasks, create meeting agendas & notes Supports tracking and analytics related to work plan and budget Performs Engineering-related assignments related to the planning, design, permitting, construction, and performance of the companys electric transmission system Assists Engineers in the development of project scopes, designs, permitting, engineering prints, specify and procure equipment and provide on-site field support for construction activities Uses computer-aided design and inspection/maintenance software (PLS-CADD / CASCADE) Analyzes performance of companys electric transmission facilities and recommends remedial measures Attends various field meetings and assist in inspections Supports storm/emergency restoration efforts What does it take to be an Engineering Technician Electric Transmission Design? Required: Associates degree in a STEM related field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) In lieu of an Associates degree, 10 years of electric utility/distribution system experience and industry-specific certifications/credentials will be considered Aptitude for mechanical analysis and demonstrated proficiency in math skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to learn new computer software programs quickly Detail oriented and able to independently edit and validate work Ability to analyze large datasets and use them to draw conclusions and make informed decisions Ability to multitask with an attention to detail Excellent problem-solving skills, with innovation in mind Ability to work as a team player and interact with customers, staff and management A valid drivers license is required.
