Job Description
Turner & Townsend Heery are presently seeking an experienced A/E/C Business Development Manager to join our Raleigh Office to represent pursuits throughout the Carolinas. This opening requires a dynamic individual who is skilled in business development, including identifying and pursuing business opportunities in partnership with business operations leadership, establishing positive client relationships through effective client meetings and networking, developing & maintaining competitor knowledge, collaborating on win strategies for targeted opportunities, and maintaining ongoing client relationships. The focus will be agency construction management and owner's representative services primarily in the public sector (K-12, local government, higher ed, and healthcare).
Responsibilities:
Identifying & Pursuing Opportunities:
Understand target markets, resources and services
Identify business opportunities in targeted markets consistent with our business strategy
Develop specific client and opportunity strategies
Establishing Positive Client Relationships:
Identify and effectively participate in industry networking opportunities
Collaborate with business leadership to target clients and opportunities
Meet with potential clients to understand potential opportunities
Meet with decision makers and influencers to understand client needs/objectives
Identify key issues important to clients
Facilitate effective engagement between clients and our operations experts
Document client meetings
Competitor Knowledge:
Identify and research competitors within the A/E/C industry
Understand strengths and weaknesses of competitors
Identify effective teaming strategies when appropriate
Inform win strategy development based on competitive intelligence
Developing Win Strategies:
Understand decision process and who decision makers will be
Develop clear understanding of client decision drivers
Help develop Win Strategies focused on the best approach to deliver client value
Maintain Client Relationships:
After winning assignments, serve as internal "client advocate"
Provide insight to technical delivery teams on important client touchpoints
Discuss client strategies to help have specific plan to always keep client interests as our primary focus
SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
Qualifications
Self-motivated, success oriented and organized
Eager to serve in a partnership role with business operations leadership to fully engage business development and growth
Experience in business development, client management, or marketing within the AEC industry.
Strong understanding of architecture, engineering, construction, and project delivery processes.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build trust with technical teams and external stakeholders.
Strategic thinker with strong organizational and follow through abilities.
Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office tools.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in Operations or Business Development role for a professional services firm in the AEC industry
Candidate must have a Bachelors Degree
Candidate should bring familiarity with local market, clients and competitors
Travel within North and South Carolina as needed/expected
