The Opportunity
The Accountant provides accounting support to organization through part of an accounting team that supports a specific country, region, and/or segment. Areas of responsibility are generally rules-based; Areas are managed with the oversight of a more experienced team member.
How You'll Make a Difference
Lease Accounting Responsibilities:
Review monthly lease activity and create new accounting schedules within the CoStar real estate system
Assist with recording monthly lease accounting journal entries (e.g. rent expense, rental income, lease assets/liabilities)
Prepare monthly and ad hoc reporting
Assist with troubleshooting and resolving lease questions and issues
Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations using the Blackline system
Expected Risk Portfolio of Responsibility (routine versus judgmental):
Review the accuracy of the work of team members with more limited experience in straightforward, routine, and non-judgmental account balances and reconciliations
Ability to understand and follow company checklists regarding accounting activities and policies (for example: logging expenses, revenue, depreciation)
Attention to detailed processes and ability to accurately follow steps
Experience applying relevant regulatory frameworks:
Understanding of GAAP:
Working knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and applicable local regulatory frameworks to understand and effectively apply the fundamental requirements in areas of responsibility
Example of GAAP Regulations:
Demonstrate ability to record, track and evaluate the accuracy of balances and activity in routine balance sheet accounts (examples include accounts receivable and payable, inventory) within a limited number of operational legal entities
Internal Controls:
Execute and retain evidence of internal controls through completion of established processes
Individual is responsible for relationship development (internal, external, leadership, etc.):
Develops effective working relationships with direct supervisor, teammates, peers in business and functional areas
Begin to develop an internal network of resources to draw upon when needed
Provide information in response to requests (e.g., audit) in a timely and accurate manner
Individual is driven by collective team success and always looking for opportunities to grow through self-motivation and diligence. He / She uses common sense about people, ask good questions and engage in conversations intently.

Expected Continuous Improvement Mindset:
Improve impact by welcoming constructive feedback to leverage strengths and to improve knowledge, skills, and behaviors in need of development
Remain up to date with current technologies, tools, and tips and share information with the team, including identifying and escalating opportunities to improve the use of technology in areas of responsibility
What You Will Need:
Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) in accounting or equivalent
Minimum of two years relevant experience
CPA eligible (150 credits) preferred
Chartered Accountant eligible or preferred
CPA / Chartered Accountant is a bonus
May be required to sit at workstation for lengthy periods per day.
Low physical effort required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, lift, reach, and walk when working in an office environment.
Maximum unassisted lift = 35 lbs. Average lift less than 10 lbs.
Ability to communicate verbally both in person and on the telephone

In addition to your salary, you are eligible for the Valvoline Incentive Plan (VIP) with a target of x% of eligible base salary earnings. The VIP is based upon Valvoline Inc. financial performance and provides a payout opportunity on an annual fiscal year basis (October 1 through September 30) and will be pro-rated from date of hire.
